...Those of you who are concerned with the battery life of your unit, check to see if the unit is continually in sat acquisition mode like mine was, even with the antenna was down. I don't know how long this was happening, but garmin said they had seen this problem before.
They are replacing my iQue for a new build one becasue of it.

That's too bad Trekker. It seems though that you did find a new unique problem.
It would be interesting if they (Garmin) will explain the conditions or the problem after they've had a chance to analyze it. I'm certain that the engineers will "solve" the problem in any future designs....if it's any sort of design flaw. And since it's the first of it's type...it's probably a defective part and not in the design.

The tech at Garmin told me the probelm was related to the more common problem of never going into sat acquisition mode. The same component was failing in the "ON" state instead of the 'OFF" state.
