I got an H4155 which I'm trying to connect to a wireless network. I'm using an SMC router/switch as the main router, and another wireless SMC router as basically a wireless switch. After spending 4 hours online with an HP Service Expert (yea right), they said to contact my router manufacturer, which is complete crap. My router is set up correctly, and I can connect to the network with my PDA, yet I cannot access the internet. I accessed both routers through the PDA's IE, and can do basically everything but connect to the net. Any help on this? I did a search and everything I've came across hasn't solved this problem. I've done a hard reset more times than I care to remember, all at the HP service agent's requests and nothing worked.

I have a different router (Apple Airport) but had similar problems.

They resolved when I manually specified the IP address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway AND DNS and Alt DNS addresses.

Although my 4155 recognized the WiFi network, for some reason the DHCP assigning of IP addresses did not work.

Manually specifying the addresses resolved the problem.

Please let us know if this helps

yes!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! It finally works. I think the PDA was trying to set the default gateway to my wireless router when in fact it has to be set to my internet router. Once I put in the internet router IP, everything ran fine.

Glad to help.

I spent hours with Apple and HP support with no luck, as well.

If you have a PC, go to Start-> Run

Type Ipconfig.exe and Enter

This should give you all the IP address including Alternate DNS. Otherwise you amy need to contact your ISP.

Start--Programs--Accessories--Command Prompt, in that command prompt windows type ipconfig /all then hit enter and when you are done type exit and enter.

had to write a bat file ip2.bat
but thanks for the /all
ipconfig.exe /all >prn
pause

the >prn gave me a printout
still the cable and bluetooth work with activesync
but the WiFi does not ?
will connect but will not start activesync
even if done manually from the ppc
