Click to See Complete Forum and Search --> : Viruses on Palm OS ?????
Just tried a new AV software for my PC, and noticed they have a Palm OS AV software.
Any of you veterans use one ?
Is it really necessary at the moment ?
See here.....

Incidentally I did manage to see the Great God Clapton at long last, in Cologne Germany.
Spent 10 yrs trying to get a ticket for London concerts without success. Was worth the wait. Amazing sound too in Cologne Arena.

McAfee Professional came with a Palm version. When it saw that I had one, it asked if I wanted it installed. That said, I haven't seen any viruses yet. (Thank God.)

ArtT,
I've been using Symantec AV for Palm since it came out sometime last year without any problems.
AFAIK there has only been one Palm virus reported in the wild.

Free Palm Antivirus Software (http://www.bitdefender.com/bd/site/products.php?p_id=23#) From this very article (dated in 2000) they assign a very low risk, and note that it hasn't been detected outside of a controlled environment. I know I'm not bothered by it, and doubt seriously that there is a threat. The viri-writers may be trying, but they haven't succeeded yet, and I'm not going to clog up my system trying to protect from something that doesn't exist.

I agree with Ann. The virus definition file probably contains one entry?

I also agree with Ann (she makes me :D). To put it another way, it’s like selling condoms in a nunnery. :D

I also agree, I posted that because I did not want anyone to spend the $$$ from the first link posted.
Hey worst case scenario, you do a hard reset and a Hot Sync :D

I too agree with Ann...since everybody else does...I mean, how can you not? I sure hope Ann doesn't start suggesting we jump off bridges...seems like my Mom covered that with me a few years ago...
I've just started using som spyware/adware/mail washing utilities on my home computer and spyware utility (spybot) on my work computer. It seems to have improved system performance, especially at home. For anti-virus I use F-prot, I don't think they've come out with a palm version.

Yes, spybot - great program (free as well). I strongly encourage everyone to run it - you would be surprised at what lives underneath the stairs.
