I know that Garmin periodically updates the maps that came with the iQue. Do we have to pay for those updates or do we get them for free like the Mapsource updates? For those of you that have gone through map upgrades, did you think it was worth it?

The update from CS-Europe V5.02 to CS-Europe V6 is free , but this morning I spoke to 'FORMAR' who is the reseller of Garmin in Belgium and Luxemburg and the guy on tbe phone told me that the next update (V7) is coming on 2005 and this one is NOT free

Even Garmin has to earn money on something.
That the update from CS Europe 5 to 6 was free, was just because they happened to screw up the handling of roundabouts.
Previously, I have updated the Metroguide Europe when they became available. That was for my Vista. I hadn't done that, if I hadn't considered it worthwile.
I didn't buy the last upgrade, though, since I could use the second unlock code for the City Select 6 maps (which I got for free for the iQue), so that I could use the same maps in the Vista. I just exclude routing information when I download to the Vista, since that unit can't make any use of that information anyway.

Yeah, I realize they have to make a living too. Was just wondering if they did like annual updates? every other year? whenever they needed a new Cadillac? :D I know that there has been tons of development going on around here, as I'm sure there is in most places. Just wondering if it's worth it to keep up with the latest if they aren't free.
