Anyone seen this before?
This morning I powered up my T3 and all of my data was erased - including my SD card! I've seen Palm's drain the battery due to a "crash" and erase all the "on board" data but never seen it where the SD card is also erased.
Looks almost like my T3 was in the microwave for a couple of minutes.... ;)
Anyone had their T3's completely erased - including SD card in one shot?

I've never seen anything like it.
Perhaps you have a doppelganger.

Some time has passed since you originally posted and this is really interesting. First off, sorry to hear about your problem. If you have a chance to post again, mind telling me-
Were you able to recharge T3 okay?
Have you been able to verify that data on SD card was really erased?
Any idea, if there was a crash, what software may have been the culprit?
Finally, can you reformat SD card okay, or has it been fryed?
Thanks- again, sorry to hear about your problem.

cemuller - no worries. I test so many Palm programs I'm always "armed to the teeth" with tools and backups to restore very quicly.
My T3 battery was completely empty so I left the T3 in the charger cradle for most of the morning. So far so good...
When browsing the SD card either via the T3 or from a SD reader the SD card was completely empty which is VERY odd. I reformated the SD card at that point to make sure it was not defective. The SD card reformatted without any problems and I've since restored most of my data.
In all the years of owning a Palm there have only been two major mysteries for me personaly... One - Avantgo stopped working on my T3 and now the mysterious "self erase". My only speculation on item two is that maybe PDA Defense Pro activated itself and "bombed" my PDA but I've used PDA Defense Pro for years and have never seen this.
Next guess is anybody's guess....solar flares, stock market, stray electrons, migration of some bird....etc. :)

May I assume that you applied the "patch" to your T3 that addressed certain SD card issues?
I had a similar occurence when I first got my T3 and never received another SD issue other than an occasional "card not recognized" until a soft reset was performed.
The patch is a ROM Flash that you should be able to find at PalmOne support.
I know of no way of telling if the patch has been applied because it did not change the OS version. You can attempt to reinstall the patch and if it had been applied then it will tell you. If it hadn't been applied then it's a 4 or 5 minute typical ROM flash.

Moose Man,
Thanks for the suggestion - I did have the T3 patch installed the day it was released because my original SD card was trashed by the T3.
I tried to re-install it again when I was "re-imaging" my T3 and I received an error message stating the patch had already been installed.

KimH,
Well couldn't remember but better safe then sorry if you hadn't done the patch.
Got to be a unique situation and I wonder if by chance it could have been a virus? Since you do so much testing of software perhaps some vendor's beta copy or something got infected but to take out the SD card....scary.
Let us know.....I assume you may have already thought of or have run a virus detection on the device.

Moose Man,
Good point - could be a new virus...I will install NAV for Palm and see if I can locate any new virus so I can warn the group.
