I am trying to get a new palm portable keyboard to work with my Tungsten C. When I plug the palm into the keyboard it starts a Hotsync. When I go to the Keyboard Icon and try to activiate the keyboard I get

util.c, line: 1023, No Serial Library (Reset).

I do a reset and try again, still nothing. What is going on here ??? HELP

Thanks,

George

What's happening here is that you have an incompatible keyboard driver installed on your Tungsten C. The reason it's incompatible is because the Palm Portable Keyboard became available before the Tungsten C came out. But there is an updated driver on Palm's website.

You first need to remove the old driver. This is what you need to do:

WINDOWS:
1. HotSync to make sure your data is backed up.
2. Hard Reset your Palm. Click here (http://205.141.210.148:80/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE/,/?St=21,E=0000000000442389825,K=2756,Sxi=2,useTempl ate=Case.tem,CASE=887) to find out how to do this.
3. Go to: C:\Program Files\Palm\you username folder\Backup
(If your Palm username is "James Bond" then your folder will be named "BondJ")
4. Within the Backup folder, locate and delete a file called "Keyboard" or "Keyboard.prc"

MAC OS X:
1. Follow steps 1 and 2 above.
2. Go to: HD>Users>Your login user name>Documents>Palm>Users>palm username folder>Backups
3. Delete the Keyboard file.

After these steps, go to http://www.palmone.com/us/support/downloads/keyboard19_legal.html and follow the directions on that page. This will install the latest Palm Portable Keyboard driver onto your Tungsten C and you will be able to use it with out having it HotSync.

Hope this helps!

Steve
