1. After you pop in the iQue, is there any room left to put anything else in there?
2. Does it act as a sniffer for active AP's?
3. Can you recharge the battery when its in the case via external battery pack?
TIA! :D
Also, if the case is not big enough to hold any of the iQue accy's, can you remove the guts and transplant it to a larger case?

You can put credit cards/SD cards. No, it doesn't have a sniffer for wifi hotspot. No, you cannot use a battery extender that way. There is a tiny battery charging connector for the enfora (wonder if it is the same tiny one that iQue has which everyone recommends not to use). I don't remember the voltage/amperage required by this charger. I can check that out tonight.

Thanks a ton ssaibal. Even if I could plug into the Enfora, that would be fine (as long as it would also charge the iQue).
How do you know then when you are near an access point?
Any way to cannibalize the internals into a larger case or is it all pretty tightly connected.
Right now my carrying case will carry my 4AA extender with no problem.
I would love to have a wireless case that could hold the iQue, battery extender and my gilsson antenna. This way I can grab and go and be ready just about anywhere.
Thanks :D

I think I will buy one of those wifi detectors for US$30 or so. Or wait for my brains to get fried by RF which would be a good indicator.;) Just joking.....such statements can scare lot of folks.

Instead of removing, why not glue/velcro the antenna and battery extender to the enfora portfolio ?

Do you need the name of the network? Say for example, you are driving past a library. You need to check your email. Can you park out side and assuming a good enough signal, the enfora and ique pick up on the signal, and assuming its free w/o user/pass, surf the web? Also, do you know which version of wireless is it 802.11 a/b/g?

after testing the enfora at home with my home wifi network, it test drove it sitting in my car in the parking lot outside the Alviso City Community Library. It detected the network and connected smoothly. However, unless you switch the power ON on the enfora and the ique and then look thru the enfora utility, there is no way to check whether there is a hotspot around.

How about creating a list of hotspots and loading it as a database in Cachemate? Does anyone know if any of the hotspot listing programs include location data?

Ok, here comes the dumb question....
How do you know when a network has been detected? Can you provide a screen shot?
Thanks :D

Enfora web has two models for the US:
WLN0102 US Denim, $169
WLN0301 US m series Leather, $139
Does the WLN0301 work with iQue?
Thanks,

Mike,
Did you ever get an answer to the question of if the WLN-0301 works with the iQue 3600? They are only $80.00 now at MobilePlanet.
The specs look the same as the WLN-0103, but the price is $50.00 better. There has to be a catch, it sounds too good.

I wrote Enfora and here's their response:
Good morning,
Thank you for your interest in our Wireless LAN Portfolios. Yes, the
WLN0301 will work with the Garmin iQue 3600. You can purchase it at a
discounted price at www.mobileplanet.com.
Please let us know if we can help in anyway.
Sincerely,

The key phrase is "it will work" with iQue.
In my previous correspondence with Enfora, they warned me that WLN0301 "will work" with iQue but you "will not be happy with it" because the connector is the tall kind that does not leave much room for the iQue.
If you compare the WLN0301 picture with WLN0103, you will see the much smaller connector in the latter that allows iQue to fit in this case (very tightly).
If you buy WLN0301, make sure they have a good return policy.

I really just want it to work. I'm planning on throwing it in my briefcase and keeping the Q on my belt until I get to a hot spot and want to check mail.
I'm not planning on anything fancy, so I think this cheaper version will suit the purpose.
That said, I'm still keeping my fingers crossed.
Regarding the smaller connector, couldn't one just upgrade the connector? It doesn't sound like a hard operation. I assume new connectors are available.
Has anyone found replacement UPCs?

Got the case in and it works great. It's a snug fit, but quite acceptable.
I was dissapointed that the Enfora battery only powers the transciever and doesn't share any with the Q. I was very pleased at the easy of setup. It had no problems connecting to my network even with WEP.
Mail is working great, Avantgo is great, I'm not thrilled by the included browser though.
The really cool thing is the ability to sync over my LAN.
