I just bought a Palm Tungsten T this morning, and had a Landware GoType m500 keyboard on order already. Then I saw on Palm's website (go to http://www.palm.com/support/tungstent/ and click on the fourth item under "Quick Answers") that the Palm Portable Keyboard WILL NOT WORK for the Tungsten T "due to changes in the Palm OS". The support person I called didn't even know this yet. I'm bummed. She finally verified that it's true, and said that they don't know when they'll be coming out with a driver for Palm OS 5.0 .

So I was worried that the Landware GoType would have the same problem. I called Landware, and, sure enough, they say that their GoType won't work with the Tungsten T either. Grr!

Perhaps the Pocketop Keyboard (a.k.a. the Wireless Link Keyboard) will work? http://www.pocketop.net Does anyone know?

Does anyone know of any regular-size keyboard (not those mini thumbs-only keyboards) that they're SURE will work with the Tungsten?

Here's one that's coming in November:

..and a link to a review: http://www.treocentral.com/content/Stories/176-1.htm

I noticed in the story about the "Thin Keyboard" that is coming a reference to it being "rgid" when in use. That would be an improvement over the current Pal Keyboards (ThinkOutSide).

I just tried the Pocketop Keyboard (a.k.a. the Wireless Link Keyboard) -- it doesn't work. Bummer. I really need a keyboard for my Tungsten T ASAP, because I want to take it with me on a trip this Wednesday....

Palm just posted for download on its web site a beta release of the driver for the Palm Portable Keyboard. Palm says it will only work with the Tungsten T and the Palm Portable keyboard. Here's the link:

Hope it helps solve your situation.

I'm glad to hear the driver works. Now if you could only find the kind of case you're looking for, things would be a whole lot better! ... I'm looking for a case that adds very little to the current dimensions of my Tungsten, yet would protect it from minor drops and banging around in my pocket. I had an Innopocket for my m505 and it worked wonderfully! It was metal, with an attractive finish, form-fitting to the m505, was lined with a thin sheet of neoprene, kept the buttons from accidentally turning on my Palm, etc., etc. I'm not too pleased with the two cases currently offered by Palm for the Tungsten. Guess I'll just have to use the clear polycarbonate cover for now (at least it protects the screen and keeps the buttons from being pressed accidentally) and wait for the right case to be created. ... Hope you have a great time in Amsterdam!

Sounds like you have similar case needs and desires to me. Though I have to mention that your statement about the "the two cases currently offered by Palm for the Tungsten" uses the word "currently" -- although even *if* I wanted these "current" cases, they're not available yet.

If I got a tungsten t could I use my Palm III series keyboard with it with one of those 'bridges' that allows you to use palm III accessoires with palms with the palm universal connector?
Thanks

I think so. YOu would of course need the new keyboard driver for the TT. The connection using the bridge and a 500 series was always a bit insecure due to the bridge moving the Palm's center of gravity above the small support that the Kayboard offers. I think the additional weight of the TT could bring the problem to a point that would make the use of the combination uncomfortable and problem prone. This is a hard combination to recommend.

Thanks DrMud. I was just wondering because if I did upgrade my Palm iiic I wouldn't want to waste all my accessories. Do you know if that would work with the sony clies? I have my eye on a cheap sony N770C. I was wondering if that had a palm universal connection port on it as well and the other clies?
Thanks.

The 770 does not have the universal connector.
I also have not seen anyone building connectors.
