Almost all standard (5 volt) USB devices are capable of drawing power from the PC USB port. It appears that e740 does not charge from the cradle until additional power plug is plugged into it. Can anyone think of any workaround to this problem?

Otherwise, I will just buy the additional charger. But now when I travel, I would have to carry the additional power supply.

Is there any other USB cable or cradle that can help resolve this limitation. And I can just carry the cable/crade that would have both USB and power in one. I think iPaqs and Palms work this way.

Thanks! I will order it right away.
Shame on Toshiba for not providing both hotsync and power in the USB!

Thinking aobut modding my cradle to also charge the e740.
It's no big deal, just wanna reduce the wire around my desk.

Similar to what was done to this iPaq:

Yes. That was very impressive fix on the iPod.
Please do post how your experiment goes.
