I have an older model Palm (V) and I'm using a portable keyboard. Each time I hook the palm to the keyboard, it attempts to sync. After I canel the syncing process, I try and type an adress, a task, or anything really and it tries to sync again, rendering the keyboard useless.

Has anyone seen this before? Got any solutions?

thanks

it means your keyboard drivers are not loaded. Try soft-resetting your palm this should load them (if available). Be shure not to press the up-button while doing this, it skips the loading of all hacks (the keyboard driver is a kinda hack).
If that doesn't work reinstall the driver, after the hotsync it should message you to soft-reset your palm, if it doesn't you're probably not using the right driver.

I've had this problem with a couple of handhelds in the past, and usually the company that makes the keyboard has an updated driver available to solve the problem. You can also sometimes run into problems if you have more than one keyboard installed on the handheld -- e.g. a full-size keyboard and a thumb board. I didn't run into this with my Palm Vx products, but I did run into that problem with my Sony Clie. Disabling one in favor of the other didn't work either so I had to pick between the two . . . good luck!

I had a similar problem with my Vx trying to Hotsync everytime I connected my keyboard, even though the latest driver was installed correctly.

The problem turned out to be a conflict with another hack, FastCPU. When FastCPU was diabled, the keyboard driver worked fine. It took some time identifying the problem, as I had to turn off all 10 of my hacks and test them one by one with the keyboard driver!

Best,
