To Outlook or not to Outlook...

When I originally set up my Palm software 2 years ago I didn't link it with Outlook. Now I am considering doing so - I like the way the calendar pages print out and I sometimes need a bigger visual reference (i.e. piece of paper) than my PDA screen allows. Also, my work requires tracking a ton of 'to do' details and I'm hoping this will simplify managing that info.

Any opinions on whether this is a good idea, will linking to Outlook affect any other aspect of my PDA use? Or are there better calendar/task tracking programs (I don't have much money to buy something else)?
