Being the owner of a two month old E310, I am amazed to see that Toshiba have released a new "similiar" product, the E330. Are they trying to tell us something by releasing this product within a couple of months of the E310? Is this new product what the E310 should have been? Having had intermittent problems with power settings and the machine having to be soft reset after freezing, are there problems with the E310?
I have also noticed that advertisments for Toshiba PDA's don't mention the E310, only its bigger brothers. Can anyone assure me that my "nearly new" product is going to outlast its warranty or have I spent £300 on a pup?

Similar to yours, my 310 is ca. 2 months old. Of course, I can't be sure, but it seems to me it's all about marketing ploys. Somehow it reminds me of mobile phones - just when you've made the decision to buy a particular one, the next one's coming out with just that little bit of extra...
I had hardly any trouble with my 310 - and to tell you the truth, it will be tough convincing me of changing it!

It's like anything else you might buy, did you do any research ? two months ago it was all over the net about the new X processors, You made a decision to go with the cheaper model, so just ask yourself the following questions
1. Does it do what you wanted it to do when you bought it.
2. Did you research everything about the 310 before you bought it
3. Did you not know the X processors were coming
Why is any of this Toshiba's fault, When you buy a car and the next model comes out do you get mad at Ford...
And all buisness does Marketing Ploys, otherwise they wouldn't be in buisness..................

Monon333,
I think you have missed the plot completely! The E310 is only a couple of months old. There was a lot, in the UK anyway, of publicity about this machine, it was the bees knees etc and then, suddenly , its not the flavour of the month!
Of course I did my research, the E330 was not around then. I came over from Palm and cost is a factor, especially when a PDA costs as much as a middle spec desktop machine!
My intention was not to slag Toshiba, I am inviting discussion from other E310 owners who may feel that the "next model" has been released extremely quickly, especially if they are having problems with the machine as I have. And before you comment, the option to return the machine is not an option as problems I have are intermittent and never show up when you need them!
Ford don't release a new model every three months anyway, and yes I know about X processors.
I realise you are the owner of the E330 from another thread. Perhaps if you were in the same situation as myself and other E310 owners, you might be a little bit more sympathetic!!!!

I apologize if I sounded snippy, I reread my responce and it did seem rude. I didn't mean it to be, my whole point was that the PDA market is real up in the air, Palm is making some amazing PDA's. Actually more to the point Sony is, Sony has put out a new PDA every month for eight months. Each one is better than the last. If pocketPC is going to stay alive it will have to up the Stakes as well. I belive that Toshiba will give Sony a run for it's money, but back to your point, the 310 runs way better on the 2002 OS than the 330 or E740, the X processors just don't have the OS that uses thier ability. So find the issues that bother you and find work arounds for them, This is true for all PDA's. I would recommend Tweaks, it improved my 310's stability.

Monon333,
Hi, sorry I bit back, totally out of character! I realise the PDA market is rather buoyant at the moment and Toshiba, being a late starter, has some ground to make up. I was a Psion 5MX user for a year, went to a Palm M130 and then decided that PC2002 was for me. I like the E310, don't get me wrong, it does have everything I want (possibly too much sometimes) but being a technophobic, I hate being left behind, and so quickly!!
For my intermittant freezes, I will try that software you suggested and see what happens.
Thanks again
Regards
Doug
