Whenever I try to hotsync It goes for a few minutes and then stops. I get the error that the connection between the handheld and computer was lost.
I have tried resetting the Palm several times, download all the latest software but still can not get a successfull hotsync.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

does the hotsync app on your ps pop up?
no: make sure hotsync is on, if not start it, if so make sure it uses the correct port to communicate with your palm.
and if so does it get as far as actual syncing?
it might stop at the id-part, try restarting hotsync or even your pc and make sure you're PC has the right name attached to the right ID (you can try deleting the user (make sure it is really removed) and setting up a new one by pressing hotsync).
are you trying to install lots of software?
start hostsync on your palm, now press the scroll-up-button and the upper-right corner of your screen, press ok to the dialog that appears. on the next hotsync your palm will wait forever (unless manually stopped).
Hope it helps

Just out of curiosity, are you using AvantGo or any other off-line browsers? I've found (especially with AvantGo) that when there is a problem connecting to certain URLs, the Hotsync process can be hung. For example: I'm a big fan of the Onion. For quite a while my Hotsync was timing out. Upon further investigation I found that the Onion was not responding while I was syncing Avantgo, causing everything to shut down.
Try disabling AvantGo or any other browsers and seeing if Hotsync works. If there's still a problem, disable any 3rd party conduits. It would also be wise to confirm you're running the most recent version of Hotsync. There were sync issues that were fixed by 4.1.0.
Good Luck!
