Right before I lost my que, forcing me to buy another one, the little charge pin broke off in the wall charger (I wasn't using the cradle). The new one will be here any minute - and I would like to be able to have 2 cradles now - but I can't get the pin out of the old charger. Any suggestions?

Will a strong magnet work?

Nope.

If there is any part of the pin exposed, then you can use a pair of needle nose plyers to pull it out. If there isn't then you would have to cut away part of the barrel to expose part of the pin.

If it helps: the charge pin consists of two halfves. It might be posssible to insert a very thin needle in the middle and pull it out.

well, I fiddled with it long enough that the pin is now sunk hopelessly into the charger. Maybe Garmin will send me another. I even tried a syringe - just couldn't get the bugger out.

Maybe you can swing the cord around it around in circles (pretend you're going to rope a cow) and wack it against a hard surface. Maybe that will work it out. Or you can buy a replacement plug and solder it on in place of the current one (if you're into that sort of thing). The plug is 2.35 mm outer diameter, I know that Radio Shacks in Canada sell them for a few dollars.

Why change the plug? The jack doesn't have a pin any more.

consider yourself lucky. This is a case for RMA. You'll get a new and fresh iQue.

Next time take some precautions. I have opened up my plug barrel slightly with a 0.6 mm drill bit plus used a non resinating lubrication oil. you an also add three mm of shrink tube onto your plug to prevent it from moving in the jack barrel.

I think you missed something Jonas...
The iQue with the broken charger pin was lost, a new one ordered. agmike98 just wanted to be able to use his old chargercable again.
Sadly enough Garmin does not RMA lost iQues...

Sorry, I missed that part. There was a photo of a 2.35 mm plug in its plastic bag from Radio Shack with part number and all in a link from a thread on battery packs the other day. That batt pack that made us green with envy. Signature whk.

I had a similar problem. I futzed with it for days. solution: I used an insulin syringe filled with water. I inserted it into the pin and pushed the plunger down hard. The hydraulic action moved it out far enough that I could grip it with a needle nose pliers. If you have widened the pin too much this may not work. A very small drill turned in by hand might do it. hope this helps.

OK, so here's my second problem with the new vs old que.
I would like to use my 'second' license from my first que with my second and then hopefully sell my new city select. To recoup a small piece of the cost of the loss of my old one.
So is this a legal and ethical thing to do?

I can't convince mapsource that I have only used one license and hence should have another. Is there some dumb way I used them both on my first que? I am anxiously waiting for Monday when the customer service line opens. Does anyone have any suggestions - either how to fix it or a number that might be open either saturday night or sunday. A pay number would be nice about now (as if I couldn't find my way to the mall without the maps)

Thanks again,
Mike
