Doe's anyone have information on Palm's new products?
When they will hit the shelves, screen res, OS5 info, number
of models, price. Also new vendors. I understand there
will be major markdowns of current models. Thanks Pointman:cool:

I'm moving this thread to Palm -- you are more likely to get answers there. Miscellaneous PDAs area is to discuss the PDAs that don't have their own sections.

Well, there are three(I think) new palm pdas coming out... today! I have heard that the tungsten t, and the tungsten w will be released today, as well as the sony peg-nx70v.
The tungsten t specs are
320x320
Os 5.0
Bluetooth
Sliding buttons
Very small
Mp3 playing
Voice recording
built in phone
Texas instruments 144(?) mhz processor(this will cause some compatibility issues with programs desgined for os 4.1 and below)
Somewhere around 500$

Tungsten w
320x320
Os 4.1.1
Bluetooth
Sliding keyboard/buttons
Small, maybe bigger than tungsten t
33mhz dragonball processor
etc.
Somwhere around 550$

Nx70v
320x480
Os 5.0
No bluetooth
Same lok as nr70v
Built in camera (480X640?)
Compact flash slot(may only be compatible with sony made 802.11 cards(bluetooth), but it's probably just drivers needed for regular compactflash
206 mhz processor?
Voice recording
Big but beautiful
Around 550-600$

Sony will also release a camera-less model of the nx70v, the nx60, don't know when. I believe there is a major company planning to join the pda market early next year.
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong...

Palm released the Tungsten T and the Tungsten W yesterday. Oddly, the W runs OS 4.1 and not OS 5. You can see (and hear) a 4 minute video review of the Tungstens on www.zdnet.com's home page. Click on "See Palm's answer to the Blackberry" to load the video.

well, 802.11 is Wi-Fi not Bluetooth :)
but the bluetooth mem stick might work with the nx series, if not i imagine it soon will.

Ahh, I see. In that case, 802.11b is bluetooth? I have heard of Wi-Fi before, what is it? The compact flash card that is being sold to go with the nx series is 802.11b, so I don't think the bluetooth mem stick would be necissary. Cheers

P.S. Enjoying your new toy spies?:D

802.11b is NOT the same as BlueTooth.

BlueTooth is short range wireless effective for up to 30 feet at 1 Mbps transmission speed.

802.11b is also known as WiFi and has a theoretical range of 300 feet. Most of the wireless network equipment that has become so popular recently for home networking (LANs) uses 802.11b, which provides 11 Mbps transmission rate in the 2.4 Ghz band. There will be a Secure Digital WiFi card coming out early next year, so PDA users can surf the net at high speed, not unlike notebook users do now with their WiFi PCcards at Starbucks and other coffee shops, hotel lobbies, airports, etc. that offer WiFi hotspots.

The newer and faster standard is 802.11a, which provides up to 54 Mbps in the 5 GHz band.

Ahh, I see. So why is all the hype about bluetooth then? Is it just that much cheaper? Also wondering, on sonys site, they list the compact flash card for the nx series as being 802.11b, but it is bluetooth, right?

Hi, PDASROCK

No, no! 802.11b is NOT the same as BlueTooth. They are different wireless standards.
