less than 24 hours ago, i bought my first ppc(ipaq 2215). so far the only glitch i've encountered (and i'm sure it won't be the last, although i'm trying to be optimistic) is i have to keep switching between outlook 2002 on my desktop to sync and outlook express to get my regular email solely on the desktop. i'm sure i could try to figure it out, but my brain hurts just from making the final decision to get a ppc vs. a pda. any help would be much appreciated. also any opinions on pocket win? yay or nay?
thanks!

If you already installed Outlook 2002 on the desktop, you can just migrate everything from Outlook express to Outlook 2002 and only use Outlook 2002. Here're some instruction from MS;

Thank you for your help answer dude. would you believe that i tried downloading pocket win and i'm not quite positive how this happened, but after i installed the flash plugin, this blue vertical line appeared on my ppc screen and wouldn't go away. And, as if that wasn't enough, i try to do the second part of my install with the unzip thingy and i get this message"you must use classic unzip blah,blah...". i hit the yes button a couple of times, then i'm staring at a window with all these files and i kinda have a hard time getting them to go where i want them to go(to the ppc with the pretty blue line marring it's screen). ok, so forget that i have no idea how to complete installing this program. the fact that this stupid blue line won't go away bugs me( i've got a twinge of the ocd. can't be having lines on my perfect new screen)bottom line, i returned it and got another one. so after i get it out of the box, should i just plug it into my desktop, or maybe i should uninstall the activesync and reinstall, or try to find the bond screen and start from there...and how do i locate that stupid pocket win and delete it from my desktop??? i don't wan't it any more. i'll get that carrot4 something or other. ok, i need to calm down. this stuff is overwhelming me and i don't like being beaten by a machine. it's like a puzzle you can't solve. thanks for listening to the rant.
please help me

The way I see it Crz Lnz, I would ignore the pda side of things for the moment and get Outlook running as your primary e-mail application, stop using Outlook Express and switch to Outlook. As Answerdude said Outlook will import all of your Oiutlook Express settings, mail etc so the switch over should be very straight forward.
Once you have Outlook running correctly, you can then sync to the PDA. Delete any partnerships already set up between your PC and the PDA and start a fresh.

thank you assassin. i followed the link answer dude gave me and imported all my stuff from express to outlook. i tried to reply to an email i received but it won't send. isn't that just great? so for now i'm just going to swap back and forth like a tool until i feel like working it out. Anyhoo, the 2nd ppc seems to be up and running.wish me luck and thanks again!

I originally had the same problem where I could recieve the e-mails to the iPaq but I couldn't send. Active sync would correctly sync on everything else. I was trying to sync to PCs one at home and one at work. Somehow and I'm not sure how I managed to fix it.
At the time I was also struggling with duplicate data due to syncing with the 2 PCs. I think whilst fixing this I fixed the outbox problem.
As a precaution I backed up one of the PCs using a program called Outlook Backup, then I deleted all mail, all contacts all calendar entries etc, so it was completely empty. This was on my work PC. My main sync was going to be my home PC.
I also cleared out the iPaq so the only data was now stored on my home PC.
I then deleted all partnerships from active sync. Starting again with the home PC. It correctly synced I then repeated at work, but on its sync options I didn't select inbox.
I now have both PCs and the iPaq all showing the same data and as a bonus I found the e-mail sync to the home PC was also now working, both sending and recieving.

thank you for the info assassin. but ohhh am i apprehensive about trying it(i'm in denial and paranoid about wrecking my 2nd ppc)however, i know i need to do something about it because going back and forth changing programs to check emails and then changing it back again so i can sync is maikng me dizzy. then i showed my husband what he needed to do if i left the outlook on and his eyes glazed over.....ahh well,i'll look into it. i'll most likely do it. i just need to come to terms with doing it.thanks again!

Why do you need to keep switching programs ?
Even with the problems with syncing the PDA to the PC, you should still be able to use Outlook on the PC to deal with all your e-mail now.

i downloaded the program that allowed me to sync my yahoo inbox calendar tasks to outlook 2002 and hence to my h5555
works very well and allows me to call up my stuff on any machine anytime anywhere even if I can't sync my pda to an alien computer.
the program is free from yahoo - by intellisync
i also loaded roboform on my pda and desktop and it stores lots of passwords, etc

thanks for the info maybonot.
i'm kind of teetering over the point of no return by reactivating my yahoo acct. i just want to ask you a few questions before i take the plnge and try your suggestion:
do you use active sync with your yahoo acct?
how do you go about setting everything up? do you have to uninstall the active sync on your pc or do you go in through the back door so to speak and change the email address in outlook to sync with yahoo?
would i use the import/export tool to transfer the yahoo stuff to outlook?
i probably have other questions, but i'm such a laymen i'm not quite sure what to ask at this point.
your experience is greatly appreciated!

no the intellisync will do that for you.
I changed my outlook 2002 to send/recv mail for my yahoo email account
using activesync I synchronized my outlook with my ipaq
checking all the boxes so that mail calendar tesks files avantgo etc would sync
after the outlook was sync'ed I ran the intellisync from yahoo to sync my yahoo account with outlook on my desktop
I use this for only my main yahoo account
but i use npopw to sync about 7 email accounts with my pda
yahoo <->outlook<->ipaq
by the way since i have so many e-mail account i use eprompter on my desktop to read/send all of my mail from the accounts
npopw on my pda = eprompter on my desktop
also, i use "total Commander" by ghisler - a file manager program
writtten for both desktop and pda
also there is a plug-in for desktop total commander that allows me "see" my pda files on my desktop and copy/move/delete/create files on my pda when the pda is sync'ed with my desktop
ie with total commander pda files<->desktop files
i use this procedure to copy all my pda files at the end of the day to my desktop as a backup in case I loose my pda files
I do that besides using the backup program on activesync
and the sprite backup on my pda
