Hello!

I just got my Zodiac 2 and I love it! I don't like the massive case they sent with it and can not seem to find alternitives on the internet. What I would like is just a very basic leather hip case with a belt clip (very thin and skin tight) or a very thin metal hardcase with belt clip. Anyone got one for the Zodiac? URL's ?

Just a short review on the Z2 now:
When taking it out of the box the first thing I noticed was that it feels like a single solid block of metal. The most heavy duty, solid built, top notch quality PDA that I have ever had in my hands!! And it wasn't even charged or turned on yet.

Once it was charged and I turned it on, even better. Everything so far has been great. The only thing I have not figgured out is how to put MP3's on it. The directions are not very clear, but I suspect it is because I do not have a SD card in it. I think it only allows saving and playing MP3's to/from a card. Not sure however. I'll run out and get an SD card latter today and try it then. The desk top software has an icon for the music, but when you click on it all you get is a blank screen.

Review of the sports case delux: It's about the size of a Samsonite carry on suit case. The elastic bands to hold the Zodiac in place cover over several of the buttons and controls.

Well that's all for now.

Regards,

This isn't a Zodiac specific case, but you might try either of these:

The first link is the Copilot-30, which I currently use my by Jornada 568. It was previously used for a Jornada 545 and a Visor Deluxe. Based on the deminsions listed for the Zodiac, I think it should work okay. I won't be able to tell for sure until I get a chance to buy one myself.

I'm very happy with the cases and find them very good quality. Mine has lasted for a couple of years now with daily use. I HAVE broken the belt clips a couple of times, but I tend to be very rough on these things, so it's pretty amazing that I've only broken two clips. You can but replacement clips.

The copilot-30 (top link) is slightly longer (5.75 in vs. 5.5 in.) while the copilot-40 is slightly wider (3.5 in vs. 3.375 in.). Both are .9 inches deep.

I suppose I shouldn't leave out to the copilot-20, (http://www.ebcases.com/Detail.bok?no=2999), but it shorter than both, and less wide and deep (5.3 x 3.3 x .8) so I think it'll be a little too small for the Zodiac.

That's a very nice case! Since I started this thread, and since there are just a couple of differant cases for the Zodiac on the market right now, I looked up a freind that does custom leather work. He does everything from jackets, backpacks and cases for guitars. So he and I have developed a couple of designs on paper and we should have a prototype in about two weeks. We are going with horizontal attachment to the users belt, 2 stylus tube like pockets and two SD card slots. When it's ready I will post pictures and if we get a good responce I have a website to build for sales!

Sounds interesting. As for the "clip" though... I'd highly suggest you go with something that swivels. I personally will never get a case that is "locked" into one oreintation. Horizontal just doesn't work well for me most of the time because I keep my PDA right next to my phone...

Swiveling really allows the case to just automatically adjust to the right position to fight right.

Apparently, this case is exactly like the Brando except using black thread:

Both are kind of thick.

I just got my Z2, and am looking for a case too. Other brands are coming out with Z2 cases later this year. I too am looking for a tight leather case. I have a Vaja for my Prism, and it's great.

The one I am working on will not be a metal or plastic clip. Rather it will be two leather belt loops in the horizontal orientation and due to your feedback we will most likely put one wide one in verticaly. As soon as the prototype is done I will post some pictures. The person I am working with does 99% of his work on a custom order basis so we are thinking of doing a web site where you can order a basic case plus a check list of options & an additional area where you can make special requests and get a quote on it.
