Hi there.

I have a nokia 7160 phone and a palm m130.

I'd like to know if there is any way of synchronizing my mobile phone contacts into my palm all at once, through hotsync or something, and not one by one via infrared.

Thanks

Regis, I'm not familiar with your specific phone but if it has a verison of the Palm OS on board then you should be able to beam the file "addressDB" containing all of your address info to the phone. If the phone has a different OS (which I suspect it does) you may very well be limited to IR transfering one at a time. I guess that beats entering them manually.

PS: Your best source of info on the possibilities is Nokia.

Recently purchased a palm m130. I am trying to get the data to go the other way... Nokia 3360 (IR capable) to Palm M130.. any ideas? DrMud, were you successful?

TIA

If I recall correctly the Nokia support people said the 3360 cannot act as a modem and will only recieve the Palm IR beamed data.

I think you are right about it not working as a modem. What I am trying to do is to use the IR port on the phone to beam the addresses and other info in the phone through the IR port on the Palm into the palm DB. Any ideas there?

The phone will beam data but the data is not "addressed" to the Palm's file "addressDB." I t cannot be addressed. If you have another Nokia you can beam back and forth as there is only one data base.

I was hoping I could find some utility that would convert the nokia db into the Palm's file addressDB format. I can get the stuff from the phone into an exel or another db, do you know of a utility that will read that file into the Palm addressDB?

BTW, thanks a bunch for the info.

Greg,
You may want to try Google for sites related to the Palm and Nokia. "mymobilepalm.com" is one, if I have recalled the name correctly. It is most likley a dead end as creating the conversion software would be more trouble than buying the right phone for the job.
My local ATT Wireless sells the SonyEriccson T68i with IR and Blue Tooth, for $49.00.

Greg,

Listen up, m8 - there is a way to send all contacts from Cellphone to your palm. Works for me just fine.
I'm using a Handspring visor with palm os 3.0
nokia 3360 as a cellphone.

ok - turn on your nokia - click on names (right button).
now click on find (select it) and then use the up/down arrows to find whatever name it is you're trying to send. choose details.
ok - now choose 'options'.
here - in this menu there is an option called 'send bus. card' - there you go. :D
Palm and other IR-enabled cell-phones accept it =)

hope this helps,

-Dan
