I was thinking about upgrading the bios in my 1940 to the 1.10 version. I am still on 1.0 and it is working fine, but you know... you want to be up-to-date.

However, when browsing the support forum on the HP-site, I noticed many reports on how the upgrade procedure has crashed and caused a corrupt BIOS in the flash memory. When this happens you have to return the unit to HP. Yuk!!

I have second thoughts now. What are your experiences of upgrading the bios? It seems so risky to me. I really need my trusted 1940 to work for me every day.

There's always risk, but at the same time many more people successfully upgraded, just read and follow instruction very carefully, you should be okay.

(Ok Ok I admit that my iPAQ1940 is now back in the ever loving hands of HP ( unrelated problem! See the post "Screen" ) but the upgrade was Ok! )

And quite easy to! just make sure you have a spare ten mins!:D
