I am looking for some assistance with my ipaq 4155. I purchased the HP photosmart (sdio) attachable camera and I can view still photos on my ipaq but not video that I take. I get a "there is no application associated with....
The video is .avi and I tried dowloading pocket viewer and pocket mvp, no luck
pocket mvp message is Video Error, this file contains an incompatible video format
pqv message is bad header information found
Any assistance would be GREAT!

Can you view video clips with the included Ipaq Image Zone?

Yes, I just tried, you are awesome! I did not realize that was the purpose of it. So I guess that this is the application that the ipaq uses to view video?
Can you help me understand....I take either video or stills and they (in essence) are moved to the ipaq image zone to be viewed there. I can then either keep them there or delete. Can I move them to an sd card to be later viewed once again with image zone or do they always have to stay in this application?
In reality, to view the video with the HP "ipaq" camera all I need is the ipaq image zone and nothing more?

I just noticed that my "shortcut" to the IPAQ Imagezone is missing from the "Programs" selection...how do I restore it?
Also, what settings do I have to change, as they are not apparent to me, to view video in the Image Zone??
Thanks,
LewieDude.

You can specify the folder location of the stored files (File-Menu-Setting), so you can change that to storage card area. I think you can also move the existing video/images files to storage card using File Explorer on the ipaq, just browse to folder where they are stored and tap&hold on the files you should see an option to copy/cut and browse to storage card and paste. Image Zone should be able to see them, just in case you may want to create a My Documents folder on the storage card and put the files there (some applications cannot see outside that folder on the storage card).
By the way, Bitbank's Pocket Quickview should be able to see this video format (mjpeg) as well. If you are registered user, you may want to send Larry a sample video and ask why it's not playable.

You can either reinstall the application or using ipaq's File explorer, browse to the location where it's installed and tap&hold on the program .EXE file and browse to My Device-Windoiws-Start Menu-Programs and paste the shortcut there.

I don't think you have to change anything, just tap the camera icon and File>Play from the command bar.

You have been really helpful, thanks. I am still having a hard time. Do you think that you can just leave them in Image Zone? When I opened Image Zone>tap file there was no save option.
I may have to figure it out when I get home from work as I do not have the storage card with me.
I also was wondering if not having the sd card in due to the fact that I have the camera in that slot, if it will limit versatility since I can not have images saved to the sd slot and use main memory?

So far I am able to view video clips taken with the camera attachment but the image viewer, when it plays the video is so tiny (size of a stamp). I can not get it to take up more of the screen.
It seems like an HP camera made for an ipaq would allow the user to better view the video clips. I must be missing something.

There are 2 settings on video capture, try it with the bigger 320 x 240, i think you'll get no sound though.

You have been a great help. It works better.
Have you had any experience with the windows based media converter? I read somewhere that you can take .AVI format and convert it to a format that WILL, supposedly work with the version of media player for my iPaq.

It will probably work, but don't expect the quality to be any better than the original captures, you can experiment with it, the encoder is free from MS;

It should be in Start / Programs / Windows Media / Encoder. From there - when you open it up - it will take you through a wizard. I don't use it that much - but if you play around with it, you'll find that there are many options and settings that can dramatically change the output of a video file.
Hope this helps.
