Some observations from a recent trip to Berlin and Prague with a river cruise on the Elbe:

1. Took two cards along, a 512MB Lexar 32X for maps, and a Dane (Toshiba) 512MB for mp3s.

2. iQue battery more than adequate for use of the mp3 player on the flight from Miami to London and on to Berlin. I could of used the power outlet on the plane with my MiniSync cable, but did not, and did not need to. I used the mp3 player for about 6 hours on the flight. The sound was great with the supplied Bose noise canceling phones.

3. I used the iQue for fun only, checking location while on Berlin city tour, etc., but most of the time the GPS functioned well. It had some problems with the urban canyons of Berlin while in a tour bus, as expected.

4. Left it in the window of our stateroom on the river plugged in to my Toshiba Portege R100 for power, and enjoyed following our progress up the river. By the way, the R100 is a great little lightweight laptop. Having it along allowed me to download my photos at days end from the two digital cameras I had along, a Minolta Dimage Xt (SD card) and a Minolta Dimage A1 (compact flash card). The R100 has a SD card slot, and I have an input adapter for the compact flash.

5. Used the iQue a couple of times in Prague, once to help the taxi driver find our hotel on a little side street near the Mala Strana side of the Charles bridge. It was spot on in determining the route.

6. The maps were great in Germany, but as soon as we hit the Czech Republic border, the coverage was very spotty. It didn’t even know where the Elbe river was once we crossed the border. However, coverage in Prague was very good.

7. My iQue is one of the very early ones, SN 9028….., delivered in early September, ’03. It has never given me any problems (several severe thumps to my head, in lieu of any nearby real wood.)

All in all, I have been very pleased with the iQue. Previously I had used it to navigate a trip from Miami to Purcell, OK, also without problem. And, this forum has been a godsend as far as getting the most out of the little beast.

What airline provides Bose noise cancelling headphones?

My thought exactly. I bought a pair of those about 2 months ago. They are awesome!

What do you need in order to plug your iQue into some power source on an airplane?

You mentioned the minisync cable. Is this all you need? Or do you need some kind of adaptor?

We had an upgrade using miles on American from Miami to London. They have the Bose headphones on most transatlantic flights in both First and Business class.

The MiniSync has a 12v plug (cigarette lighter type) that the USB connector plugs into. American uses this type of outlet now. I also have an adapter that would allow me to use the other type of power outlet.

Also used the iQue in Prague recently, with European City Select 6. Directions were EXTREMELY inefficient. especially when leaving the city to go into the countryside. It would on more than one occasion route me in a big circle on small roads rather than in a direct route on a highway, with the result being that instead of a 45 minute trip it would send me on a two hour journey. It did go accurately on the roads that it picked, just a very bad routing. This was only a problem leaving the city, not going back in, when it did just fine.
