Need Info

I dont know all that much about the functionality of all the different type/brands of PDA's, so I hope someone can point me in the right direction.

I need to know if there are any PDA's with wireless internet connections that will allow me to post to message boards via Internet Explorer, specifically Yahoo! Groups message boards. I dont have the availability of a phone line to use at work, and would rather use a PDA than a wireless modem with my laptop.

Can anyone help?

The Palm i705 is a wireless unit that could do what you ask.
Also some of the older models such as the Palm Vx and the models from Palm in the 500 series, can be attached to a wireless modem. Service is through EarthLink/Omnisky, about $40 per month.
The Palm Vx can be found on line for around $100 (new) and the EarthLink Wireless service will give you a free modem when you sign up for service. Best to check the www.EarthLink.com/mobile site to see how well your area is covered. Florida has the best coverage in the country.

Thanks so much for replying to my post, but I've found out some more information regarding what I'll need my PDA to be able to do. Java. Do the PDA's you mentioned provide Java support?

Also, with all of the adds that advertise "browse the web", are the sites limited to those designed specifically for handhelds, or is virtually any site accessible from a PDA? (i.e. ubid.com, ebay.com, msn.com, priceline.com, etc)

No Java.

You can surf all sites. Some are designed to be easier to surf than others. Surf with a handheld is slow and can on a complex site be a bit daunting. I use my 515 and a wireless modem to view and respond to questions on PalmBlvd, but it is an effort to navigate. A thread that my PC gets to in seconds may take 30 or 40 seconds to load on the Palm. A wire modem is faster than my wireless.
