Well actually she broke my hot sync cant load maps or sync my date book and address book anymore. Well here is the story. Went out yesterday and bought a palm Zire 72 and she loaded it on the same computer as my garmin (windows XP home) and now my garmin will not hot sync but her palm will. I removed both palm desktop programs and reloaded just the Ique program and now when I try to hot sync I'll get is a double beep and it will not sync. Before it was a singal beep. The computer know the usb is their but nothing I do will work. I was thinking of getting a serial cable cradle and trying that. Does anyone have any Ideas on what I can try? Does anyone use the ique and a different palm on the same computer and does it work ok? Thanks:confused:

I'd look at uninstalling the Zire software and get back to first principles and see if the Palm desktop can actually hotsync for you. At first glance, I suspect that what you installed for the Zire may be pulling the Garmin hotsync down, assuming you had to install any software for it? If you had to, then maybe the Zire has loaded something that has possibly usurped the drivers used for the iQue.
There may be a conflict with the USB drivers, perhaps a .dll was overwritten with an incompatible version (the famous "dll hell" as it's known as). Does the Zire install anything on the system tray that might possibly be cycle-stealing from the iQue? There are many reasons but if installing software for the Zire caused the problem, then back that out. You might need to reinstall the Palm desktop. Sorry, that's all I can think of at this moment.

Use System Restore to roll back to how everything was before she added her software.

What you need to do is... put the zire in the cradle then look at the system properties hardware and find the branch that lists the Zire. See if there is a ? mark. If not that item is installed fine. Then plug the Ique in the cradle and look at the same properties sheet. One of these will have a question mark present. Then right click and update the driver. Insert the ique cd or zire cd for the proper PDA and that will fix your problem. Did this myself berfore.

See here (http://www.pdastreet.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=156107#post156107).
As described in the above link, in order for a USB hotsync to work correctly, the version of the Palm Desktop that's installed on the PC must be able to recognize the unique IDs that the Palm unit sends to initiate the hotsync. So, if the Desktop program for the Zire overwrote the Garmin Desktop, it may very well not recognize the iQue's IDs. The same may be true for the inverse. The Garmin version of the Palm Desktop may not recognize the Zire's IDs. This is the same issue that the early Mac/iQue users had to overcome, since Garmin didn't release a specific Mac version of the Palm Desktop.
Basically, part of the Palm Desktop is a list of IDs that correspond to different PalmOS devices. It should be the responsibility of the company that releases such a device to ensure that their version of the Palm Desktop has an updated list. In this case, since the Zire 72 was released later than the iQue (I believe), that responsibility would be on palmOne.
Your idea of trying a serial sync is a good one. This would take the USB IDs out of the equation and would probably work, unless there are other issues. It would, however, be slower than a USB hotsync, so if you have a lot of things being hotsunc on a regular basis, it might not be very convenient due to the relative slowness.

Had it been me, I would have considered un-installing the cause of the problem, to make sure it doesn't happen again! :D

Once you get your Que working, just try hotsyncing the Zire, it might need a driver, but palm desktop should work. BTW Intellisync does not work with the latest palm desktop, probably has to do with the picture feature.

Actually,
I have no problem using IntelliSync with my iQue and with my Palm 5000. And I use it to sync my datebook with Lotus Notes.

This may not be the same problem that you are having but may help others who are having hot sync problems.
My cable to cable hot sync stopped working one day. First I try to hot sync with IR and it worked. Then I uninstalled the desktop and cable hot sync started working but when I turned the computer off and then back on the hot sync did not work. Try reinstalling Ique under another name but did not work. I then contacted both Garmin and Dell to see if they knew how to solve the problem. Tried both suggestions to no avail. Then I remembered that I have not been able to get on the internet via cable to cable. I uninstall Softick PPP and hot sync worked. Reinstalled Softick PPP with their new update and it working.

When you found out your girl had a ZIRE you should have checked to see if she was without remorse. Did she possibly break your iQue on purpose? Are they both still allowed to visit you and Betty? Whats this world coming to? I'd rather have a Sandisk card than a girl with a ZIRE! A man without his hotsyncer is like no man at all. Keep this kind of thing up and you may find yourself beyond the help of this forum!:D
