That's cause they won't come out with that "great" idea. The OS on the Zire 71 is not, and will never be compatible with any wifi or bluetooth sd cards. It has something to do with the drivers not working... but i remember reading in this forum that a certain "pouch" was available for the Zire 71 that does work with wifi, might want to look it up.

I'd like to know what type of bluetooth card is available for the Zire 71 also since I've never seen one. Sandisk has just released a WiFi card for the Zire 71 (http://www.brighthand.com/article/SanDisk_Wi-Fi_SD_Card_for_the_Zire_71_Review ) but that's only wireless expansion card I know of for the 71.

I'm also quite interested in details on the bluetooth card you're using.

I've read up on a fairly new trend called "bluejacking" (basically anonymous messaging to unsecured bluetooth devices, nothing harmful), and would love to try it out... Just for fun, of course. :)

There is no blutooth card for the 71. I think Shane was confusing bluetooth with WiFi.

Nutz...

I really wish the one Palm makes worked on the 71, but it specifically doesn't... :(

You also need a WiFi access point card for whatever computer will be serving as the network hub, but I'm told they're relatively cheap...

There is no currently working BT card for OS5 devices from PalmOne.

There is a WiFi card availiable from SanDisk that does work. It costs 100USD and is availiable now. Using that card, you will be able to connect to 802.11b/g wireless networks. Check the other posts for more infotmation about the card and how it functions. There is also a review at **********.com that I did about the WiFi Connect card that should answer a goo deal of questions that you may have about it.

You will need an access point/router if you will be using WiFi in your home. There are some businesses that have hotspots that allow you to use them either for free or up to $20 per session in some places. Check out Cnet.com as they have a hotspot locator that is pretty nice and accurate. If you live in a place near one hotspot, there may be more that are just not listed on their list.
