I am a Garmin iQUE 3600 novice having trouble with finding city street maps. I have loaded in the applicable area but when I zoom in on my location a detailed map of the area (city streets) does not come up. All I get is a location triangle showing my location relative to nearby major highway systems. Do I need to do something special with the CD to load detailed city streets? Or must I purchase or download city street detail separately from third party software? (ddwinnie@hotmail.com)

Winnie,
Have you install the detail maps from the CD yet and have you installed the Garmin maps on you iQue yet?
If you have not installed the maps from the CD, go back to the Install CD and continue with the Detailed Map installation, it takes a while.
After that, open your Palm Desktop program. From the icons on the right click on the Map Install icon and follow the instructions and choose the area of the detailed maps you want. It gets big rather quickly. When you have the basic area chosen pick your SD card as the destination and finish. Map Install will build the necessary file to send to your iQue. Hot Sync that file to your Garmin. Then you can find the street detail you are looking for.
This is a brief description of how to ?read the manual for full info on the process.
Good luck

Also you need to unlock the maps -- step 7 in the Setup Guide. If you are having trouble unlocking the maps, search the forum for "unlock maps" and see what comes up.
You can also see if the maps have been installed and enabled by going into Preferences (in any iQue application) and choosing Maps on the left-hand pulldown and Detailed Maps on the right-hand pulldown. Make sure all are checked (I see no reason why they wouldn't be, but just in case ...)

I also learned yesterday that if you attempt to load more maps than you have memory, it will disable any maps you have previously loaded. So mind your memory.

Actually, anytime you load maps it will get rid of any maps you already have loaded. The Que doesn't allow you to "add" detail maps. You have to pick everything you want and load them all.

I had that problem whenI ugraded to the new version of city select.
Took me a while to figure out that when I thought I was unlocking the maps I actually wasnt.
In my defence it was around midnight though. :-)
