I do not believe so. I've just bought the Belkin USB Smartbeam IR device and it works with PsiWin and Windows 98SE because a Virtual IR COM Port is created in 98SE. However Win XP doesn't support IrCOMM so there is no Virtual IR COM Port to select in PsiWin properties.

I haven't even installed the 'Smartbeam' in my Windows XP machine because I really don't expect it to work with PsiWin. I mainly wanted the device to use my mobile phone over IR with my 98SE laptop, which doesn't have a built-in IR port.

What you probably can do, if it is of any value, is to send files from the Win XP PC to the Psion using IrOBEX protocol. In Windows Explorer, after installing the Smartbeam, the "Send to" menu should include Infrared Recipient. Using an IrOBEX application on the Psion, you can receive the file. You can also transfer files between Psions using IrOBEX instead of the normal file transfer using the built-in IrCOMM. I haven't yet discovered how to transfer files from Psion to PC as Windows Explorer doesn't have a "Receive" file option AFAIK.

The IrOBEX application I have is a free one from the C-Pen website and is obviously intended to transfer data between a C-Pen and Psion.

Oh god I hate windows!! Why do they remove support in newer additions Probably to improve compatibility with Pocket PC and to remove compatibility with the EPOC PC connectivity software :)
