Hello All, I wonder if anybody has insight on this.

I moved up to a Windows XP-based computer, and downloaded from the Sony Website the desktop app (CLIEPD401.EXE) and the HotSync Update (HSUPDATE4011.EXE), and set the HotSync app to manage the USB connection. When I hit the hotsync button in the Clie, the computer comes up with a 'USB Device not recognized' message. I have tried enabling the serial port with slowest speed as some other posts have suggested for other clies, and manually pointing the driver for the device as well, but WinXP says the device does not match the driver. The CS people at Sony suggested me to soft reset the Clie, but that doesn't work either. It has been at least a month since I haven't been able to sync my Clie, and I would appreciate any help you can give me.

Thanks,

Marco F. Duarte

Try to manage the sync now since August 2002.
Gave it up and have thrown the little helper out of the window.
Ok still working with and on it, no solution so far.

Hi all,

For anyone interested, Sony posted a new update supposedly aimed for persons that use more than one PDA in their computers through Palm Desktop. That is not my case, but I installed the update and now the Hotsync works. If you have the same problem you may want to try that.

Thanks,

Marco

One caveat is that even with the patch sometimes it won't sync, but as the Sony CSR said, soft reseting it works.
