I just got a new computer running Windows XP (my old computer was running Windows98, which my Ipaq h1910 worked just fine with). Well, I keep getting error messages that it can't link up to Outlook and asks me to reinstall it (which I've done a couple times now).

The following are the error messages I am seeing:

1) cannot start outlook. a required component is missing: OMI9.DLL. PLease install Outlook again

2) active sync cannot log on to Outlook

3) synchronization cannot be started because you are not able to log on to the network and access info.

I already tried uninstalling and reinstalling Outlook and ActiveSync 3.7 to no avail.

I tried contacting HP, and the rep asked if i had 'configured Outlook'? (not sure what he meant), but then wouldn't help me any further because he said my warranty with HP had run out and i wasn't eligible for their support.

Anyone else have this problem with XP or have any solutions? Help!

And you may also want to install the latest activesync(3.7.1)

Thanks Answerdude, I'll try this as soon as I get home to see if it fixes the problem.

Ok, found the problem. In ActiveSync, there was a setting for compatibility that was checked. When I unchecked it, it synched fine.

Of course, no thanks to HP or the Microsoft site.
