I've owned a NX-60 for 2 years and love it. However last week I started having problems with hotsync process. It acts like everything is going fine until a window pops up and says:
"Hotsync Progress Screen, Program is trying to access email addresses you have stored in Outlook. Do you want to allow this? If this is unexpected, it may be virus and you should choose "No." It also has a check box to allow access and you can select the # of minutes you like. Or you can select "No." If I select yes, it cycles as though it's working but then the same window will just pop back up again. If I select "No" the window refuses to close. The only way I can close the windows is to go into the task manager and end the program.

PC is Windows 2000 and I'm using MS Outlook 2002

Can anyone help me? Is this a settings problem? Is this a memory space problem? I just have no idea. I've tried reinstalling all the software and that didn't fix the problem.

Thanks!

First, are you using Intellisync? It helps to know things like this. The message is coming from Outlook. It is there to alert you that another application is try to access the contacts folder and there's no way to turn this off. You should only see this message if a change was made to your contacts, either in Outlook or the Clie. Have you been using Outlook 2002 for a while or is this a new install? Have you seen this message before and been able to allow access to Outlook by clicking on "Yes"? If you've been able to bypass this messge before and been able to sync then it sounds like the contacts folder in Outlook may be corrupted. The fist thing to try is to go to Help, Detect and Repair, in Outlook. If the problem is corruption then the dectect and repair routine may fix it. If you still have the problem, the next step to try a handheld overwrites Outlook to see if that will clear things up.

Jim, thanks so much for replying to my message. Yes, I am using Intellisync. I'm using the basic sw bundle that came with my Clie NX-60. And yes, I have been able to bypass this message before by choosing yes and/or no. I've been using MS Outlook 2002 for quite sometime now, probably since 2002.

Yesterday, I did a Detect and Repair and apparently that didn't fix the problem.

I will try next to run the overwrite to see if that doesn't work.

Any other suggestions that you might have would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much!! Have a great day.

What I strongly recommend is that you dump Intellisync and get Pocket Mirror. Intellisync is well known for causing corruption in Outlook files as well as being slow and generally unreliable. Pocker Mirror is a much better program and doesn't cause the strange dupes and deletions that are commonly seen with Intellisync. You can get more information about Pocket Mirror at www.chapura.com .
