Help Please with DateBook

I can't seem to get the current date to stay as the default date in my Date Book.

I kinda figured that when the date is set it would come up everytime but nada.
I set todays date and it reverts to 2000.
Anyone got a clue of what I might be doing wrong?

Have You set up the time and date in the preferences? or just chosen it in the datebook?
If not, go to preferences - time/date and enter the data there, then You should be all right
