J'écris en anglais pour toutes les personnes... The problem is with the Treo SMS application. It only recognises 8bit characters. Some characters, like accent circonflexe (^), use an extra bit. Handspring know about this problem but will only fix when they release a new Treo :( I have not tried it but maybe MaxTEXT (http://www.maxtext.net/) may help - it is a third party SMS application.
