I read in a different thread that you can refresh the internal battery. Does this really work? If so what is the best procedure. My 950 is using a battery every 2 days or so. Before it started eating batteries it would usually last 1-2 weeks. Also my battry status screen looks like this.
Battery: 52% 1.26 V
if you click into the battery it looks like this:
AA 1.27 56%
Li 4123 Tx 3411 Adj -24
Chg Low
Temp 28c
I guess the Chg Low means it needs a refresh?
Thanks in advance.

Is the battery actually burned out after 2 days in your 950? That is really quick! I would suggest testing the battery with a multi-meter or battery tester and if it is ok that do a soft re-boot on your 950 to see if it will re-read the battery state.

Is it an 850 or 950? I think the battery life may be different in the two. You might try searching some of the old threads here on the differences between the 850 and 950.

Well I did the 48 hour refresh and it did not help. It seems like every time I go to the battery debug screen it says chg low. I also went ahead and left the unit on but tuned off the radio. After doing that the battery did not drain so it looks like the radio being on is the main cause of power consumption. It still does not explain why I am using batteries at the rate I am. My covergae and signal has not changed. Other people sitting next to me with the same model do not have this problem. I am baffled! any thoughts would be great. Thanks!

I have heard very anectdotally that there are some units like that out there. Can you contact the vendor and ask them about exchanging for another unit. I have a new 950 through Earthlink, which uses the Cingular network. I use rechargeable NiMH batteries and get around 2 weeks out of it, and I get sometimes 50 or 100 messages a day, maybe send 20 a day. One thing to note if you use rechargeables is that they are 1.2 V rather than 1.5 so when you put them in new they show around 67% charge. They last a couple weeks though.
