DrMud 11-01-2002, 07:19 PM The location is below. I have no personal experience with the upgrade. STNE is very reliable and if there were problems I think we would have heard. Doc http://www.stnecorp.com/ OldBlue 11-02-2002, 12:23 AM Here's another upgrader to check out. In January 2000, I had this company upgrade my Palm V from 2 MB to 8 MB. Workmanship was excellent and I was kept informed of the progress by email. I had my Palm V back in less than 1 week. My son's girlfriend also had her Palm upgraded by the same company with the same good results. I was going to have my m505 upgraded to 16MB, but decided to wait for the Tungsten and just buy a whole new Palm. http://www.palmpilotupgrade.com/about.html OldBlue AndrewB 11-06-2002, 12:24 PM I had my Palm M505 upgraded to 16 meg and OS 4.1 done by Palmpilotupgrade.com. Ever since I have had problems. Certain Medical programs that I use by Skyscape and MedicalWizards will not install on my Palm no matter what I try. Both companies have suggested that the problems is a corrupted OS. The company says they have a 90 day warranty but when I asked if the OS could be corrupt I received a one line answer " It's was working fine when it left here". I see other posts with problems that develop after the OS 4.1 upgrade. Perhaps the problems reside in the OS. But I was very unhappy with the response from the upgrade company. DrMud 11-06-2002, 03:21 PM The company can say honestly the OS seemed fine while in their hands but they did not try to load your software. Send it back and send a disk with your software for them to install. DrMud OldBlue 11-08-2002, 12:47 AM AndrewB I'm sorry to hear about your upgrade problems. When I had palmpilotupgrade.com work on my Palm V, I only had the RAM upgraded from 2 MB to 8 MB. (They had not yet offered the processor upgrade from 16 MHz to 20 MHz.) Also, I had previously flash upgraded the OS from its original 3.1 to 3.5. Both the RAM and the OS upgrades worked fine. I DO recall reading posts on some boards about OS 4.1 compatability problems with some applications. If a friend would allow you to install the Skyscape and MedicalWizards programs on their OS 4.1 Palms, you could determine if they were incompatable with the OS or if the OS in your Palm was corrupt. Good luck! OldBlue Yunk 11-08-2002, 07:01 PM With the expansion card, why bother with the additional 8 meg or RAM? Are there many programs that need that much? DrMud 11-09-2002, 08:58 AM Yunk, Many applications will not function "completely" from the memory card. Especially data base apps that need to hotsync to stay connected and updated with the PC files. There is no Hotsync functionality for card based apps. In addition apps that will run from the card need space in RAM to operate when they are launched. I use a few apps such as these and they take up all but 2.5 mg of RAM. I also use Flashpro to allow for an additional 1.5 mg of memory. I keep the 2.5 open for Mapopolis to load its maps from the card. I wish I had 32 mg. Doc OldBlue 11-09-2002, 06:28 PM Doc said it all! OldBlue (adding his two cents):) PDA Street
