Hi,

Does anyone know of a UK-based source of netbook compatible *wired* ethernet cards? Having already bought one that doesn't work in a netbook, I'd prefer not to make the same mistake again!

Also, what is it about the naming of the Psion PMCIA cards? Talk about trying to confuse the customer - or perhaps it is just me!

Regards,

Max

Hi Max,

Unfortunately ethernet cards are getting a bit thin on the ground now as most people move to Wi-Fi and the majority of laptops come with a built in ethernet port. Psion has stopped selling their CombineIT range and this is really the only one supported by Psion and is known to definitely work.

What I would do is check out Yan's website as this confirms a list of the Psion cards and any issues with them. Then do a search on ebay or the like. The best card to get hold of is the Psion CombineIT 56k Modem with 10/100 LAN all in one.

Only minor consideration before buying any card is ensuring that it is a 16bit PC Card variety and not the newer 32bit CardBus variety as this will not work with the Psion.

I have the older Psion DACOM Netglobal Gold Card
56K+Fax+10Mb Ethernet, which I bought from Sitashop (but these are sold out now). This card works perfectly on my MalayBook. I believe that Pulster in Germany (www.pulster.de) still sells these for EUR 49.- I have very good experiences buying Psion stuff from Pulster.

Cheers,
