Hi,
Nice forum and could use some advice.
How do I make my Ique use main highways. Today it routed my daughter through downtown Washington DC during traffic hour. She coulde have taken the main interchange around DC and avoided all those streets and traffic. I have tried to set the routing to faster and shorter but it seems to take the same path....Any advice would be most helpfull. I would usually like to stay on the Beltways.
Thanks All

Ahhh, I remember the beltways (I worked in DC 30 years ago!).
Anyway, set a waypoint somewhere on the beltway, once there it should stay on it. But the beltway is indeed an exception, as it is usually much longer in distance, albeit faster since it does move quite well (as I remember).
(it's called edit via's in the routing program, if you have a saved waypoint you can route via that, or you can just click on something on the map, it gives you a few choices to select the via)

The setting for faster as opposed to shorter will usually pick the larger roads over the smaller ones but not always. If it determines that the shorter distance will still be quicker then it will pick that way even if it uses the smaller roads. This assumes no blatant errors in the calculation which can happen but rarely do.
There are a couple of work arounds you could use. One is to change the type of vehicle to something like a bus or truck and that will sometimes have the desired effect but, IMO, this way often gives unpredictable results. The better way is to place one or two waypoints on the roads that you wish to use and then recalculate. If you go this way often, save the route.
Welcome aboard.
Does just adding a waypoint affect the route calculation? Don't you need to add a via for the waypoint?

OK,
Just added a few waypoints to direct it to the beltway and it worked. Thanks. I will try routing as a truck too. I have so much to learn with this thing....BUT boy it's fun. I am sure I will have more questions, in the meantime I hope you don't mind if I lurk here.
Thanks Again

Adding a waypoint to your route implies that you will be using it as a via but you are right in that it should be said in such a way as to avoid confusion. Like the saying goes-ASSUME =ASS(of) U (and)ME :D

I understood how to add the waypoint as a via point. Thanks

Unless you want to re-use that point for a via more times, then it's not necessary to set any waypoint at all.
You can do like this:
Create the route for the final destination.
Zoom and pan the map so that you can see the road you want to make sure you pass by.
Tap on the road on the map, so that the map pointer arrow points on it, and a small text window, with the road name/number shows up.
Tap the route icon at the bottom of the screen.
Tap Edit vias.
Now tap Att via "What-ever-it-was".
Tap (Done).
The object you pointed at will be inserted in the route, as a via point.
Of course, if you frequently want to insert the same point over and over again, then you are better off storing it as a waypoint.
Another possibility is to calculate a route to Home, or wherever you want to go, and then add the viapoint to that route.
Now store the route, and next time, recall it and activate.
The iQue will recalculate you through the via to the final destination, if you don't start off from the same place as the route was originally calculated from.
Do, however, keep a watchful eye on where the iQue takes you if you do like this, since one known bug is that it sometimes avoids vias, if routes are recalculated.
