What you can do is use the web browser and log into AOL Anywhere and check your email that way. AOL uses a proprietary email system that does not allow you to forward your email outside of their network. tklynx1 08-28-2002, 01:45 PM Thanks wireless guy but now tell me how I find the web browser on the Rim 957 wirelessguy 08-28-2002, 02:39 PM GoWeb from GoAmerica is probably the most commonly used browser for the RIM devices. www.goamerica.com Wolfetech has a browser as well as neomar. It is an additional monthly fee, I believe around $24 a month for a 950/957. I haven't checked prices in a while so don't hold me to it. Using the browser to access AOL email is a bit cumbersome and you probably won't find paying the extra money a month just to check your AOL email worth it. PhoenixFS 08-30-2002, 10:07 AM Uh... wireless guy? Have you actually used the Go.America web browser to get to AOL Mail? Please tell me how... I can't get it to work. -fss tklynx1 08-30-2002, 11:13 AM Here's the scoop - I am working on it - I got the GOAmerica softwear and you have to connect to www.aolanywhere.com and it should work but I have not gotten it there yet but I am almost there. By the end of the day I should have it figured out! wirelessguy 08-30-2002, 11:49 AM I have used the GoWeb browser to access one of my peers AOL email accounts. (i don't have a personal aol account). I used the RIM 857 with GoWeb. Select AOL anywhere, then scroll down to the Screen Name and Password fields...It should work. Make sure you enable the cookies in the browser settings. tklynx1 08-30-2002, 11:51 AM how do you enable the cookies that is my hold up right now wirelessguy 08-30-2002, 12:45 PM Unfortuneately I do not have Go.Web anymore...I did call their helpdesk for initially for accessing aol..honestly wish I remembered everything they said....good luck and please let me know if you get it to work. gsp77 09-02-2002, 12:35 PM There is in fact a way to forward AOL emails!!!! Just go to www.enetbot.com and you can see how it works. I have been using it for a few months and it works great. The only issue is that when you forward your emails from AOL, they will not still show up as new messages on AOL mailbox. You can see them in the Read box or the Sent box of AOL mail. Also, you will need to have them forwarded to some mail system like Outlook or Outlook express, then set up a Rule to have them forwarded to your Rim address. tklynx1 09-02-2002, 02:48 PM Thank you so much I got the whole thing done but how do I set up a mail rule to forward it to my rim 957 gsp77 09-02-2002, 03:16 PM It depends on which email program you have. I am using Outlook 2000. You go to Tools, then Rules Wizard and then set up the forwarding of all your emails to your RIM address. You can also choose to only send certain messages using the Exclude section of the Wizard. Hope this helps. tklynx1 09-02-2002, 03:36 PM I set that up but it seems that I have to have my aol program open on my computer and open the message first. Can't it automatically send the message if I am not on line. The whole point is for me to get my messages on the rim when I am out of town. So how do I just get them forwarded without opening the mail on my pc first. I am using outlook 2000 as well gsp77 09-02-2002, 06:28 PM Ah - I see what your problem is. I have a cable modem always on set up for my computer. In order for this to work, you would need to have Outlook running all the time (this would mean leaving your computer on with Outlook running while you are away and connected to the internet). Then, you can set Outlook to look for new messages at a regular interval (mine is every two minutes). It then uses enetbot server to check your AOL mail account and forwards the mail to Outlook. If you do not have an always on connection (if you have to dial up through a modem) then this system will not work for you. I have tried many times to check my AOL mail directly with the RIM 957 through the www.aolanywhere.com site but it always tells me that I need to have "Java script and Cookies enabled on my browser". I have not figured out how to do this with a RIM. Sorry, tklynx1 09-02-2002, 07:48 PM thanks than I did it right and I am connected thorugh a cable modem so I can leave outlook running all the time PDA Street
