My palm IIIC (PALMOS 3.5.0) can only be powered on by resetting it. the power button aswell as the calnedar, address, To-Do and Notes buttons work fine, after power on. The unit also charges and synchornizes OK. I can even power the unit off by means of the power button, so physycally it is OK. It simply will not power on using the power button. Even when i use the cradle button for hotsync tha unit will not power up. I have performed every reset available (HARD/SOFT/WARM/DEBUG) and nothing. There must be a solution, for the unit operates perfectly once its on.

Give me a hand, ppl!

Thanks a bunch!

Just wondering, do you happen to have installed a hack preventing accidental power turn on? if so, you might try pressing it loner or twice.

NO power up hacks. Anyhow, i have hard-resetted it several times, so all installed software is gone.
Thanks for the reply!

Casco,
Have you tried reseting your IIIc while it was in the cradle? Bend a paper clip to reach the reset and give it a try.
Best of luck, IIIcs have a reputation for bazzar power on problems.

Yep! I tried that too. All kinds of reset on the cradle. Thanks

You seem to have a corrupt OS. YOu might want to consider upgrading the OS. THe next step up is to OS 3.5.3 but it is a patch upgrade not a flash upgrade. Palm.com, I believe still has the Palm OS 4.1 upgrade CD on sale for $20. Or if you can get someone to provide you will OS 3.5 the IIIc can be reflashed.

have you noticed if the unit is charging all the way? or is it stopping around 60% or less?

My IIIC only charge till about 60% and it will not increase. However, when I put it to charge for the whole day, I realised that after about 8 hours, the palm is still charging. When I look at the battery, it only have about 60% of battery. I have my palm for about 2 years but so far this did not happen only until last week.
What may be wrong?

hueyluey: your case might be different from the rest of the above posts.

if you seem to be having no problems with your IIIc other than not charging all the way-even after resetting the unit while in the cradle then your battery is giving out. you can get another one from http://********hightech.com but make sure you carefully follow instructions and heed the high voltage warning.
