For those of you wondering when it was going to be released well stop wondering.
www.iambic.com has released the much awaited version of Agendus 8.02 that fixes numerous bugs.
I'm not wanting to get into the proverbial Agendus - Datebook war with Ann ;) this is to strictly serve as a public service annoucement as long as she doesn't delete this thread. :D
Ann knows that I'm just kidding

Thanks for the update Moose.

To engage a little in this war, or at least in some skirmish:
Now I haven't used Agendus much, but isn't it so, that DateBK5 is generally better, if you plan your day from a time perspective?
But Agendus may serve you better, if you plan from a contacts point of view?
So if you want to organize what to do at different times, use DateBK5.
But if you want to organize around whom to meet (or which things to do, I guess), then Agendus could serve you better.
Or am I completely off now?

Ann knows that I'm just kidding Now Moose, you know there's no war, just a difference in opinion :) I always post the releases for Datebk5 (http://www.pimlicosoftware.com)

ns Unfortunately Agendus is known for messing with icons. Get Chris Antos' freeware program IconManager (http://www.palmgear.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=software.showsoftware&SID=370BE358-7E95-2C2B-723ED8DF66E6383F&PartnerREF=&prodID=47054) , it'll help out with resetting icon collections.

Uh-oh, differences in opinions have caused many conflicts, some of them big enough to qualify as "war".

Any news on the desktop version of Agendus? That feature was both a positive and a negative for Agendus. It allowed you to have a desktop version that would let you take advantage of all the extra features offered by Agendus but the implementation was poor when I tried it last.

From a June 28 press release:
Handango has announced the winners of the Handango Champion Awards
Best Business - Agendus Professional Edition by iambic
Best Education - PocketLingo College by HLCSoft
Best Fitness - PDAbs by Acrocat Software
Best Game - Atari Retro by Mobile Digital Media
Best Lifestyle - Vindigo City Guide by Vindigo
Best Medical - BluefishRx Prescription Writer by Bluefish
Best Productivity - Documents To Go by DataViz
Best Travel - WorldMate 2004 by MobiMate
The only one I have that's on the list is Docs To Go.
I once installed trials of Worldmate and Vindigo but deleted them, concluding that Worldmate isn't very useful without some kind of wireless connection, and that Vindigo took up too much memory.

CC, the desktop component seems to be in another beta but I haven't been monitoring too much because I don't use it.
Anders,
Your evaluation of the differences between Datebook and Agendus is virtually correct. I think of datebook as an advanced calendar program while I use Agendus as and advanced Contact Manager/Task Manager. Now coupled with my Treo - it keeps track of all cellular calls as well as emails, meetings and tasks for a specific customer. And I don't have to "link" them as in Datebook.
Ann and I have always stated that great thing about the Palm OS is the shareware aspect.....try before you buy. Then decide which one is best for you.
Agendus has had issues with icon management but I have not had any issues since version 7.02 with this regard. But one must remember to not overwrite the existing icon database. This is usually accomplished by reading the install instructions completely to avoid doing so.
Must go to work this morning.

The problem with America is stupidity. I'm not saying there should be capital punishment for being dumb or anything, but why don't we take the warning labels off everything and let the problem solve itself?
FB,
However much I agree with your new sig.....it's not very PC now is it. Come to think of it, I'm not very PC so please keep it. I wonder if Michael Moore comes with a warning label?

No, there is a size limit to warning lables and the surface must be clean if they are the sticky kind.....:p

Well as Iambic is usually updating....the program has a few glitches and version 8.03 is supposed to out tomorrow.
Bugs that I've reported to Iambic so far:
Birthday's have changed by 20 years from the original date.
1/4 view in expanded mode for some reason starts on October of 2003 and will not automatically advance when you tap on the go to today icon.
Wallpaper causing crash when attempting to open a file larger then 640K in JPG format. GIF's seem ok.

8.03 will be delayed until next week.
I can recommend 8.02 with the following caveats:
It will goof up your birthday's. It moves them 20 years forward.
1/4 View in expanded mode has some issues - it starts 6 months ago rather than the current date. 1/4 view compact mode is not affected.
There have been other reported issues but they have yet to be duplicated by me or Iambic.
There was one report of loss of Birthday data but this has not been duplicated. The program is stable - more so then 8.01a, or b.
There are some issues with the VG not functioning correctly on some devices.
There have been no reported forced hard crashes or resets.
I'll try and keep those interested informed of the progress towards a "perfect" version.
I can state that similar problems were occurring with datebk5 during my trials with my T3 while they were trying to handle the VG/SIP issues.

Is landscape mode supported for the iQue?
Moose Man
07-07-2004, 06:17 PM
No,
It's my understanding that Landscape mode is a feature set required by the device and not necessarily software enabled....I don't think datebk does.....or am I wrong?

DateBK5 does not either. Some stuff, as you know, runs in landscape mode on the iQue but I guess not these PIM's.

Is anyone else using the latest version of Agendus (8.03) and having a problem where alarms set on ToDo's are ignored? I'd be interested to hear either way, whether you have the problem or not.

It has been reported and will be corrected. Believe it or not - it defaults to 1904 instead of 2004 and therefore is off a day. The alarm is sounding 24 hours late.
You and Ann might be interested in this (http://www.lifeathand.com/) do out in Q4.

Glad to hear it’s not just me. The “just me” bugs don’t usually get fixed. That link looks interesting but none of the links from that site are working for me.
Did you notice a Curious Cat over at the Iambic forums?

It's good to see the Curious venturing out past the front yard. ;)
The links aren't working for anyone, at least in this animal contingent.

You and Ann might be interested in this (http://www.lifeathand.com/) do out in Q4. I wouldn't get too excited about that one. Parker broke Contacts 5 for the iQue, you can't access the memo field of a contact without your iQue siezing up, and he shows no signs of fixing it. I was a beta tester, it worked well until 5.4.....I've dumped Contacts 5 for Phone Magic. Parker's a talented kid, but he isn't very responsive even to his beta testers!
