palm V does not hotsync

I had to hard reset my palm V after starting to get "not all of you information has been syncronized.....". Now my palm V gets stuck hotsyncing my datebook and never moves anyswhere from there until I shut down hoysync manager application. Datebook seemed to have updated on my palm V but there are no addresses.

I very much appreciate if anyone could help.

Assuming that all your data is on your desktop or in Outlook, set all the PIM conduits for a one time action of "Desktop overwrites Handheld". What has probably happened is that the hard reset has confused hotsync about what was updated. The overwrite sync will tell hotsync what's supposed to be on your handheld and reset the sync parameters.

Just for future reference, don't do a hard reset when you get the error message you mentioned. This is almost always a single record that's causing the problem and having the desktop overwrite the handheld (or vice versa, depending on where your most current data is) will almost always cure the problem. You should also download DBScan from www.pimlicosoftware.com and use it to test the integrity of datebook database regularly. You can have things like improperly deleted records in the database that cause syncing problems and DBScan can fix those problems.

Jim, thanks for the info on resetting. It is up now. However, now when I try to synch it, it says that the port has another thing running. Can you give me a little insight here.

I assume the message is that there's something else using the port. The best thing to try is an uninstall of the Palm Desktop and then reinstall. Make sure you reboot in between the two operations. Windows may be falsely reporting the port in use since your last hotsync never finished correctly and the port was never freed up by hotsync.
