Folks,

Now to my email problem: I can receive but not send email. I use the same server instructions that work for earthlink, my ISP, on my laptop, for both receive and send -- for 15 yrs.

I got passed a "an SMTP error" complaint in the Inbox setup of my Mbpro 800; now I get " a sending error: cannot find the user's mailbox." After I click on the OK, my email is downloaded, but my letters to be sent are still sitting in the Outbox. In rceiving mail, the servers -- at least the pop server finds my mailbox.
What gives?
Many thanks.
JOE

PS: must the "message board " (or LPD?)(?) [whatever that is and does?] be the same in name as or different from the incoming server name or the name of the "mail service"

These animals are critters that I do not have to deal with in setting up my Earthlink mailboxes.

Folks,
You can try to simulate the error I get -- receiving but not sending messages -- by adding a new service that lacks some features your other service has or has changes.
Go to Inbox -> Services ->Options ->Add.
Try in one new service to send mail to an alternate email address for your self that is not in your Contacts directory ( or that you delete ) . I 've done this test and I still get this error report : "send error: cannot find user's mailbox".
Try a service, where you do not "ennable" the LDAP directory ( whatever that is?).
My smtp server must have authentification: so its name must appear in the last page under the address tab. And I check the "Check the name against this". All this does not stop the error.
I have the "128bitHPC.exe" installed -- with the result that I at least receive mail. Why would the ISP let me, if I were an outsider read my mail and not send mail?
If you can do some tests by crippling your extra services in some way and maybe come up with my error above , then I would be able to tell that the error is a MblPro error or a 3.0 browser error or a ISP error.
Many thanks,
Joe
Please write with your results: here and to happy-trails@earthlink.net.

You should try the npop email program. You will not have this problem.
