OK, I'm trying to stay calm here, but I have to be missing something. How can Palm release a PDA that doesn't have the ability to load programs directly to the SSD Card. I'm not talking about hot syncing, that will never work for MP3's or Movies. Sony has a program that opens the memory stick like a hard drive and you drag and drop mp3, moves, or pictures to the Card. Without that basic ability the palm is never going to keep competitive with PPC or Sony Palms.
What good is haviong the ability to play files but not the ability to load them.........Hot syncing a 48meg Simpson episode would take hours.............

I think this is why the Tungsjunk doesn't have a built in MP3 player.............

this is just sad......... I'm not even going into the fact that my two day old Tungsjunk has Dust under the screen......More and more Palm is going towards the worst in PPC........

First off, the dust issue is definitely something that shouldn't be occurring, and should be taken care of ASAP.

Second, there is a program called Sync Wizard that will allow you to open the Palm like a drive, and read/write to/from folders on your PC. I don't know if it works with the Tungtsen, but it does with the M5xx series. You should also be able to sync these to the card through Install, but it appears that is not what you want to do.

Lastly, perhaps the Tungtsen is not the product for you. One of the reasons why there are so many manufacturers is that every product has a niche that appeals to a specific market segment. It appears that mp3 and movies are a major item for you -- I personally can't imagine wanting to use a PDA for that -- and from what I understand Sony probably makes better products for that.

I understand that there are other PDA's and different models do different thing better or worse, that is not the point. The point is why.... Why did palm make such a PDA.... take away the mp3 ability and movies, then WHY change the OS, it's just a M515 now ( A Real Fast M515) but no real new options. I have been waiting for palm to show some type of Innavation, so what do I get for 500.00, a bright screen and a slideing grafitti cover.......I said it before and I will say it again........SAD:mad:

First, let me say that I appreciate your pointing out a possibility of dust under the screen of the TT. Although it has never happened to me, it is something I will keep an eye on. ... Actually, djmangen's reply to your post IS the point. djmangen has provided a solution to your question about transferring files to SSD, so that problem is solved. ... With so many different manufacturers of PDAs on the market, you should not have to be unhappy with your selection, as your posts seem to indicate that you are with your Tungsten T. I would return it and select a PDA that is more to your liking. You don't need to have all this grief and stress. ... My Tungsten T is not showing any dust under the screen and I've had it since Tuesday, Oct 29th. I use it many times daily and keep it in the left front pocket of my pants. I am extremely happy with it. Also, the TT replaced my m505, which I have had since May 2001. I also have not had any dust under the screen with my m505 either. ... As djmangen wrote, "perhaps the Tungsten is not the product for you." There's a reason why they're called PERSONAL Digital Assistants.

monon,

I would like to do you a big favor and take the weight off your shoulders. If I send you a box and $ for postage, will you send me your tungsten?

"moan on"; (sorry, couldn't resist)

I don't get your complaining! WHY DID YOU BUY IT???
Did you purchase the Tungsten on e-bay or through a catalog or on a street corner? I would assume that if you were going to spend $500 on a PDA you would do your homework and test the product out before purchasing. Did you find out when you got it home that it didn't have a built-in MP3 player???
I think too many people get caught up in the excitement of new gadgets (I too). Being impulsive and needing to be 1st out of the gate can be expensive if not prepared. This product will be still be around in a month, so why rush it? Do your homework, read the forums and then make your choice.
The more you complain, the more foolish you look for buying it! The Tungsten features were not kept secret.

hey guys,

the tungsten t is the lastest and the greatest palm product. let's remember that PDA means Personal Digital Assistant and not mp3 player, gameboy, cellular phone, garage door opener or tv remote control. these are add-ons or features that may or may not be available for your hand held (especially the door opener).

In Monon's defense, I will have to interject that Sync Wizard is by no means a comparison to Sony's direct connection utility. All it does is open the Hotsync conduit to allow you to move files to the device similar to a hard drive, but it is incredibly slow. One 4.5MB .mp3 would likely take close to ten minutes to transfer, whereas it would take about five seconds on the Sony. It's really not a reasonable solution to the issue.

Johny, the reason I brought it was because it is my JOB, I test PDA's, I own one of every PDA that is on the Market, Part of that research you say people should do is by people like me who post on thease boards, somebody may not know about the short comings of he TT. I noticed you had no questions about my findings, you just don't like people pointing out the TT failings.

Just relax I have a new post that is more positive check it out it's called video and the TT.

Monon333,

if testing pda's is your job, don't you think (since you now like the TT) it would be a good idea to test it thoroughly before posting negative comments on this board.

i don't rate you much as a reviewer, but you're an excellent critic (of Palm)

I didn't say that I liked the Tungsten, I said that I had some Positive things to say about it, No matter what the PDA there is good and bad points, To be worth the money the TT needs a faster Transfer Progam,(moving large files to the Memory Stick), better stability, and more programs that can take advantage of it's potential, just tha fact alone that it took me days to find some positive things does not make it a great PDA. For 500.00 dollars you should expect a certain amount of applications that make the purchase worth the money. And at the very least you should not expect DUST.... That is wrong...........

"For 500.00 dollars you should expect a certain amount of applications that make the purchase worth the money. And at the very least you should not expect DUST"

Why not? I know plenty of Pocket PCs that fall into that category.

"moving large files to the Memory Stick"

Can't remember the last time a Palm manufactured handheld had a memory stick slot.

also remember they are trying to get their first OS 5 devices out there, to show people what they have been doing for so long now. It's about time that they have a multi-threaded OS.
