I have an old Palm Professional with a 2 MB card that I'd like to fix. I retired it about a year ago. When I put fresh batteries in, the screen simply lights up (literally) and then-off this happens repeatly-the palm just keeps blinking. Listening closely, there is a buzzing sound that corelates with the light. I can't even get to the Welcome screen. I've tried a hard reset, a power reset, and taken it apart. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I wish I could offer some hope but it sounds like your motherboard has failed, probably from corrosion while it was sitting around. Since you've already had it apart, the only thing I can suggest is to make sure the ribbon cable from the screen to the motherboard is firmly seated and the connector levers are up.

Also make sure the 2MB card is securely seated in the slot. This is the source of most hardware related problems in a Pro.
The buzzing is from the DC/DC converter for the backlight.
