Is there a way to tell Betty not to take certain roads. I know I can program vias but that involves programming routes and since I tend to come to the same destinations from different places it makes it difficult to program all the different routes.
But there is a couple of roads I prefer not to drive on due to all the traffic lights and traffic congestions. There is a better road that parallels these.
Any thoughts?

Only option is to set a detour for a certain distance but that works only from where you are and AFAIK you cannot save detours in a route?

Wait until it's Christmas again. If planning is realized, then there will be an update this year, for the iQue. Since other units in the StreetPilot series does have this function, we can hope that Garmin will update the iQue to include the same.
If you are in a hurry, shell out the money for a StreetPilot 26xx, and you get it now.
Add: This is the same as avoiding that ferry, in another thread.

Owell I'll continue to get the off route and hear Betty yell.

It's possible to set off-route calculations to proceed automatically, without being announced. You'll just hear the new directions.
