DrMud OldBlue 11-03-2002, 10:20 PM 1 - http://www.freewarepalm.com/ 2 - Go to www.download.com; scroll about halfway down and find "Downloads for Windows | Mac | Linux | Palm & Handhelds"; click on "Palm"; at the upper right, type "Palm" in the Search box and change "In Mobile" to "In Palm OS", then click the "Go" button; 64 freeware applications are returned. 3 - Go to www.pcworld.com; click the "Downloads" tabnear the top of the screen; in the lower right section of the "Downloads" box under "Handhelds", click "Palm"; under "Palm Files" click "Sort By License"; all the freeware will be listed first. Hope this helps. OldBlue jacques 11-04-2002, 05:53 AM OldBlue - freewarepalm.com should not be approached! I tried to open it and got my screen filled up with pop-up advertisments enough to keep me from ever noticing, what was on the site, I opened. I was unable to close them before others popped up. This is not the kind of link to recommend. The two others were "not found", possibly because of the first site interfering with my browser? I think everybody should keep away from those links! vollie 11-04-2002, 07:17 AM so get a popup killer, that's what they are there for:D just pick one (http://astalavista.box.sk/cgi-bin/robot?srch=pop+up+killer) OldBlue 11-04-2002, 09:57 AM jacques, I use Pop-Up Stopper (which is freeware by painicware.com) and it is normally active, so popups do not happen when I visit freewarepalm.com or other sites, for that matter. After reading your post, I turned off Pop-Up Stopper and went to freewarepalm.com. My initial visit to the home page brought 2 pop-ups, which while annoying, is hardly "enough to keep me from ever noticing what was on the site." I closed those 2 pop-ups and navigated to other freewarepalm pages and rarely received another popup (one popup happened when I clicked on the "Games" link and another when I clicked on the "Mature Content" link ... you must have gone there?) I DID get a popup everytime I returned to their home page, and then only one popup happened. I feel you've exaggerated the number of popups. I have no problem recommending the site because it is a great source of freeware, which is what you asked for in your initial post. BTW, what do you want for free? The other two sites are valid and reputable. download.com is part of CNet.com and pcworld.com is the internet site of PCWorld magazine, to which I subscribe. I go to both of those sites almost daily to catch up on the latest news, reviews, and price checks. I have no problems recommending either of them. OldBlue OldBlue 11-04-2002, 10:02 AM jaques, I re-read this thread and you did not place the initial post here. I apologize for saying in my previous post that you did. OldBlue cliemea 11-04-2002, 07:30 PM thanks- you said you had a lot of popups on freewarepalm.com, you could stop alot of those by downloadind adaware, you can get it from kazaalite.com, its an anti spyware program- it works great for me DrMud 11-05-2002, 01:45 PM I have used it an it does work. I deleted it and now I can't remember why!? Do you suppose I accidently deleted one of my RAM databases also? Doc cliemea 11-05-2002, 05:17 PM i kinda doubt thats what happened, how did you delete it cliemea 11-05-2002, 05:18 PM i mean dos, add/remove programs, ect DrMud 11-05-2002, 05:43 PM I think some of my databases in my GreyMatter module are self deleting.;) Doc Telyx 11-05-2002, 06:13 PM You can also stop pop-ups by going to your Internet Options (under Tools in Internet Explorer), and in the Security tab click Custom Level, then disable Javascript and all three Scripting options. Only problem is that some websites depend on Java; you can't click on any links in 'em with Java disabled. You have to go back and change the settings, then refresh the page. It cuts down on the cookies, too. Classmates.com offers 3 cookies if my Java is enabled, then gives me a pop-up, but with Java disabled, only one cookie and no pop-up. PDA Street
