Hi,

Is it ok if I install my applications/programs on my sd card? I need my SD card for larger memory for programs but wouldn't it drain my battery a lot sooner since files are being accessed through the sd card almost all of the time when working? Coz someone told me that the sd card doesn't draw power when the files in it are not being used at the time and on the other hand drains a considerable amount of power when internal files are accessed. Is this true?

Battery drain really concerns me since I hate gadgets that drain batteries really fast since I'm on the road almost all of the time and doesn't have access to power....and I don't like carrying extra stuff like chargers :) .

Sorry for the questions. I'm new with these things. Any comments are welcome and greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I run a total of about 60 apps on my Palm 515. ABout 35 or so are on the SD card. These are apps that are comfortable running from the card. My perception is that running an app off the card requires the same amount of power that it takes to run that app in RAM. THere should be a slight difference but I don't believe that you would notice it. The more processor intensive and app is the more power it takes. Handeling the constant flow of pages when surfing the net seems to take more power then running apps in my experience.
A travel charger is a small thing, and I would suggest you accept the extra weight and carry one.

If you really want to travel light, get the Emergency charger from:
http://www.talestuff.com/
(Look under catalog)

It is basically a Palm connector attached to a 9V battery connector. There may be a Zener diode to limit voltage getting to the Palm. You don't even have to bring the 9V battery, since they are available everywhere!
