I particularly liked this hint: TIP: For convenience, add the Send to Handheld droplet to the Mac OS X dock by dragging the droplet icon into the dock. There was a strand a while ago that mentioned that Palm wasn't going to keep updating Desktop for the Mac. I'm wonder if this represents a change of heart, and policy. It looked to me as if there is a new version of Adobe Reader, but that it is not Garmin compatible. Can someone enlighten me? 'Haven't done the e-book thing, but being able to carry manuals would occassionally be useful. Thanks! Kit JMckie 07-08-2004, 12:00 PM Kit, eBook readers I can help you with - reading is my primary activity on the iQue. Adobe is a bloated program and does a poor job of formatting PDF files for the iQue. You can try it but you'd probably end up deleting it. The only good thing about it is that it is free. RepliGo is a lot more faithful in rendering PDFs and is a better program all around. You can also use it for viewing HTML and text based docs but for these formats you will be wasting a lot of space. For HTML pages, and even collecting a whole hyperlinked web document into a single doc, the program of choice is iSilo. iSiloX is the PC component which reads and reformats the HTML. Plucker does the same thing as iSilo and is free. However the document parsing options are not as powerful. If you have iSilo then you don't need Plucker. For eBooks that you download/buy off the web, PalmReader (now called eReader) is free. To view large text files with this, there is a program called MakeDocJ that converts to that format. TomeRaider is not really meant for eBooks but more for keeping reference material handy. I keep it just for the free encyclopedia, movie database, and CIA world factbook. Finally you have DocsToGo if you have Word documents. It has one very annoying flaw : the jog dial does not page down - instead if jumps straight to the end of the document. Unfortunately there isn't a do-it-all program. I kept all of the above except for Adobe and Plucker. Yep, I agree, I'll put it in there tonight :) Kit 07-09-2004, 12:11 AM JMckie--thanks! I've bookmarked it so I can easily get back to it when I have time to digest is. I really appreciate your doing it. Kit reinbeau 07-09-2004, 04:21 AM Ok, I've put the URL in the sticky for quick reference. I'm editing this to say that I put the URL for the Mac Resource Center in the stickie. That's what I thought was a good idea. PDA Street
