I am about to purchase a IIIc. It mentions in the ads for it that it included TCP/IP software to allow browsing of web pages or email. This will work in conjunction with my sprint phone and service I am being told by sprint. Question is this......

Is the TCP/IP software part of what is installed with the OS 3.5???? Or is it an ad-on application that comes with the product on CD??? ORRRR Do i have to seperately purchase the Mobile Internet Toolkit? Any info would be helpful. Thanks.

I have a IIIc as well, and am able (or was until I changed ISPs) to access the internet via my Palm modem using the same ISP and dialup number which I'd used for my desktop PC.

I'm running Palm OS 3.5.3, and access the internet settings via the Preferences icon, then selecting Connection from the drop-down menu and specifying the appropriate connection type and corresponding settings.

I've never accessed the net via the IR using a cell phone, but would think this should be available as well since one of the connection options is "IR to a PC/Handheld." Anyone who's done this have more to offer?

Also, you'll need to have a Palm web browser. There are several to choose from with various features and prices. Eudora (free) is fine if you don't miss the graphics, and also offers a decent e-mail app. Palmscape (now Xiino, and $24.95) is full-featured and gives a near desktop browser feel on a Palm, graphics et al. I believe a demo's available if you want to give it a test-drive. Both, as well as a few others, are available at www.Palmgear.com.

i believe it's pretty hit and miss whether your spint pcs phone will work with your iiic. i had a motorola timeport that worked great. now i have a sanyo scp-5150 that won't. even tried a friends 5150 same results. zilch.

good luck,
