This might be just a tad off topic, but after reading a few threads about folks wanting maps of here and there, I remembered I have a bunch of software that includes Falconview, a product developed by GaTech, and used by the AF/Army/Navy/Marines/CG, etc. Out of curiosity, I googled for falconview, and followed a link back to the NIMA. There is quite a bit of stuff there, much of it can be downloaded and in quite a few different formats. I think a lot of the maps there are in raster format, but probably other formats as well. I don't know if anything there would be useful to anybody looking for maps, but they are high quality and you can get quite high resolution on them. Perhaps someone who has more time to fool around with the map server than I might really discover something useful on this site, or perhaps a link to somewhere else. We pay for all the maps being made, so we should have access to a good portion of them. Without further adeu, the URL is:

http://www.nga.mil/portal/site/nga01/

Don't worry about the login on the left bar.. guess that's for folks who can get access to stuff we underlings can't :-)

Hope it does someone some good..

I found digital maritime charts worldwide and maps of cities in Iraq. Any other land maps?

Jonas, there are areas of the US, but on the "browsing" page, much of the conus is blocked out, I think due to the fact that there are quite a few military installations in those areas, and with the detail some of the maps offer, it'd be an ideal ticket for someone who wanted to create havoc. I wound up looking at the topo map of my area here in Augusta, Ga, which was quite good, even if at a relatively high resolution. Saw some things I'd never noticed before on any other topo map. I didn't do too much looking, as time was short.
