hi guys, at first, sorry for my very bad english, I'm italian....
my problem is: i buyed an Ique in Florida during my holiday 2 week ago, but I verified that now in Italy my Ique doesn't have the european city select 6 'cause in Europe is impossible to have this cd, like in Usa is impossible to buy the Usa and Canada city select. How can I avoid this big problem? I have a friend that gave me the european city select 6 (buyed in Italy off course), but off course is don't work on my Ique cause said me unlock map. the cd make a match with my Ique Unit and verified that the Ique have an North american serial number, but the cd is with a european number, so i must have the coupon code to crack this system, but is impossible to find this.... I think the solution is buy the european city select in United States, so the match between the cd and my serial number will be correct.... Some of the members of this forum have the european city select 6 to send here in Italy? I can buy this!!!! Thanks so much in advance!!!!

You can buy Euro City Select v 6 CD from any Garmin retailer. It does not matter if you buy it in the US or in Europe.

When you register it, it calculates the Unlock code based upon your iQue serial number. It does not matter if you have a North American unit and want to put on legal software purchased in another country.

I originally purchased a US unit, with a US Mapsource and Euro City Seelct 5. V6 was supplied free from Garmin UK and later my iQue needed replacing.

So now I have a UK unit, with US maps and a Euro update CD. It all still works without any problems.

My suggestion would be to find the cheapest supplier and register it as normal. I do not think anyone can lend you a CD unless you have a way of generating unlock codes, and that is not fair on Garmin !

The price you pay in europe is about as good as it gets. The short story is that it costs more for the maps to be licenced in europe than in the US.

You may want to send a pm to one of our forum members called azorat who is also in Italy, in Milano I think. He will tell you about the pricing structures in Italy and where best to buy from.

Here I am (in Trento, not in Milano :D )
Well - I cannot be of much help, since I have two Garmins, one European (GPSV) one American (IQue).
So I have registered both units and - using my two possibilities to unlock - I have them Euromap unlocked for both (and the US map unlocked only for the Ique, since it is unlikely that I will take my motorcycle and the GPSV to the USA).
So I don't know about the pricing of the City select Europe.
But from other people that have followed the same route (Ique bought in the US, thus with USA maps) the CS Europe goes for around $300; some retailers might offer it for a bit less, but we are talking about $298 instead of 300, not much of a difference.
Somebody told me that in New Zeland one can find CS Europe at a somehow lower price.
But I don't know the details.

Ciao to all.

Il mondo è piccolo!!!
Sono pure vicino a Lana (BZ)......
posso rendermi utile?

P.S. Come vi trovate con l'Ique?
Tra poco lo metto alla super prova:
Lana - Udine - Torino - Loria (F) - Bretagna (F) - Normandia - Versailles - Parigi - Torino - Lana........

$300 was what I paid for it, I think the list price is nearer $349.

Last time I looked some places were selling it for $279.

Good luck.

I have also a US iQue, and I bought my City Select Europe, v6 by TRAMSoft in Switserland (see http://www.tramsoft.ch/gps/garmin_mapsource-eu_en.html#CitySelect). Pay attention: the price of 245 EUR is WITHOUT VAT: you need to add your local (italian) VAT plus shipping costs.

Can't you buy an additional unlock code cheaper than that? Or is that only possible if you bought it, at $300 first, and want to add a third and fourth code?

It seems not. City Select Europe and City Select US are two independent packages with independent unlock codes.
