I was wondering if there is a way to get a USB cabled GPS to hook into a PDA? you may ask why when CV sells attachments for the specific iPaq PDA that I am looking to get, but here is why.

Not only do I want to be able to use the gps in plane with the PDA, but I also have a Laptop running Windows XP with Microsoft Mappoint which utilizes a GPS input. I want to be able to take the same GPS unit and plug into my PDA or my laptop. I use the laptop on the road, etc. If I get the proprietary connection JUST for the pda, then I am out of luck using it for the laptop too. Now Bluetooth would work IF my laptop had Bluetooth but it doesn't so I am really stucky using a wired solution with the laptop.

Ontop of that I am a little skeptical of using a Bluetooth gps, I really think I would prefer a hardwired GPS for realiablity issues, etc.

Ipaq pocketpc does not have usb host port so you cannot use usb devices without additional hardware(and that may still not work with gps). You can use serial gps, there are cables to connect to ipaq and laptop.

yeah but what I am trying to do is get the Tracker GPS that has the proprietary iPaq connection on it and also be able to use that on the laptop as well. So this means I need to get some sort of little adapter to go from the iPaq connector on the end of the GPS wire to a serial 15-pin port... I don't know if such a thing exists and whether it would mess up the transfer rate, quality, etc of the gps to the computer?

If the cable exists, these 2 places should have them;
